gotta love DC! Outdoor pools are a mass a screaming kids (which I guess is the point), indoor pools cater to lap swimmers year round, and all the newly revamped playgrounds feature some sort of splash park. It's not the peaceful social experience of a private pool, but I think the entire neighborhood having fun (for free!) trumps the boring country club experience of my childhood.

Let's just put it out there: I hate wet mopping. And cleaning baseboards. Hitting the apartment (all wood, almost no carpets) with the dry swiffers 1 to 2 times per week has the mopping down to almost never since they pick up the fine film a vacuum can miss. Though as a caveat to that we don't have pets and leave our shoes at the door. And have a pile of stuff at the end of a session to brush up that the swiffer can coral but not pick up. Dry swiffers are also great with the pollen in the spring.

This shows a very similar style to your place, but minimizes the stone:

Would love more details / advice from those who have pots hanging on the wall. The cheap rental paint has taken a beating from my pots, especially the cast iron. Does anyone have experience with better paint solving the problem, or other creative solutions?
