modfan, it is a problem if the parking is bad enough that you have to park several blocks away in any direction. Also, I just moved so don't have a residential parking permit yet.. since I've been home this week, I'm having to move my car every two hours! You can imagine how disoriented I'm getting... also the street cleaning is a really good thing to note on the memo board. A lot of streets around here have 6am street cleaning!

I thought for a while about doing the map thing, but needed something right away and was able to make this with stuff I already had. A magnetic map would be great and might be a future project.

Ok I must need my own cure (head) because I am having the darndest time following these posts. I can't find links to the worksheets that work. I think I am behind before we've even started... not encouraging.

I've just moved into a new (quite old and funky) apartment and have the -Cure Of A Lifetime- ahead of me.

I was looking at the "Easy Change" wallpaper on the Sherwin Williams site and got off track and ended up falling in love with a wallpaper that is not "Easy Change." Is trying to hang regular wallpaper just a completely terrible idea for someone who has never done it and is not exactly, uh, handy? I mean, I know my way around a glue gun sure, but wallpaper seems daunting. DAUNTING. Can anyone talk me out of it or into it?

thanks meredith, I did contact one contractor and they said they would come out to give me an estimate for $100. So just getting an estimate really cuts into my budget already! I'm thinking new linoleum may have to be the way to go.

ok, I know people are always posting these "how much does it cost" questions, but as a life-long renter I am pretty clueless about home renovation costs. I am moving into a new place and finally realized how horrifying the bathroom floor is in the new place. However, the bathroom is *really* tiny. Would it be ridiculously expensive to have the floor tiled? And by that I mean by an expert (not DIY)? My dream would be simple penny tiles... my budget is low, but for something I'd be willing to put my bare feet on, I'd consider a small splurge...

At the very least I could get new linoleum.. would any contractor even be willing to take on such a small job?

ok I realize this might be a really dumb question. I am moving into a new place this week and the kitchen tile is white with dark grout. I've looked into some advice on this internet thing about re-grouting, but it all says to hack out the old grout first. If I just want to change the color of the grout (the existing grout is in fine condition) can I just, uh, grout *over* it with white? Or is that like a major grouting faux-pas? I'm anxious to change the look of the kitchen but not anxious to have to hack out grout.

ooh! ooh! I just ordered a custom one of these from a seller on etsy... for $15 she printed out the title of my art show, which saved me from having to paint it on. It looks amazing! It really looks hand-done. She even customized the font for me to match the show card.

oh my goodness.. this is so funny. I was telling a friend of mine a bit ago about how as a kid I used to love going to Radio Shack and playing with the princess phones. I had to explain to him what exactly a princess phone was and how very very badly I wanted one as a kid. I also mentioned that as soon as they replaced the rotary dial with the fake push-button rotary, they lost their charm...

so, for my birthday, he actually bought me a full-on rotary princess phone in ivory with gold trim. It was a thing of beauty and one of the best presents I've ever gotten. I had it in the trunk of my car for about two days or so... and my car got broken into and they actually stole the phone!! They left all of my cds (it pays to listen to indie bands no one has ever heard of I guess), but they stole my freaking princess phone! Needless to say, I am crushed.
