Grocery IQ is a great app. My husband and I both have it on our phones and it syncs up in real time. It's on the iPad too, so I can add to it that way if I'm looking at recipes.

I made some great braised red cabbage with apples this weekend to go with latkes. I went a little easy on the balsalmic vinegar and added a touch of brown sugar, but it was a hit with everybody--including some cabbage-haters.

This is one of my favorite salads. It's also good with feta and garlic subbing for ricotta salata and shallots.

When I needed a new set of dishes, a friend of mine told me that I HAD to get fiestaware. His family owned a hotel in Maine and that's what they used--it's practically indestructible and never goes out of production. When a piece got broken at the hotel, someone would be dispatched to the hardware store for a replacement, didn't matter which color.
I love setting the table with a rainbow of colors and seeing them stacked up in the cupboard. These are happy dishes!

Chili is a perennial favorite and it makes the best corned beef, too--less shrinkage and really tender.

This week's CSA box is still summery--zucchini and other summer squash, tomatoes, lacinato kale, and colorful cauliflower --purple and orange.
