I thought I saw a Tim Biskup, and I was going to ask about it but you already answered my question in your source list! Mad jelly over here. Janel and Jim Combine Their Creative Ideas House Tour |

Kitty, how are you liking the leather couch? I like the look of it but it's so expensive for an IKEA couch. My trusty Karl is looking a bit worse for wear after only a year and I'm worried that the Stockholm leather sofa will be just as easily worn down! IKEA Stockholm Couch In Green Velvet ICFF 2013 |

I will echo what the above person said about the possible asbestos ceiling. DO NOT attempt to remove this yourself until you have it checked! You need a special license in some states to do asbestos removal because of all the risks and special techniques/equipment involved to keep as much of it from pulverizing into the breathable air as possible. My grandmother ran up against this when she had some flood damaged carpet removed and found asbestos tiles underneath in one spot. Does anyone know where those curtains are from? Or the name of the fabric used to make them? They are a showstopper. Pinning the hell out of that room! Leah's Comic Strip Style Small Cool Contest |

The old black mirror looks haunted and kind of freaks me out, but it's still awesome haha. Love the pouf, where'd you pick it up? :D Erin's Masterful Multifunctionality Small Cool Contest |

I think the bedspread was a missed opportunity for some texture or pattern (Unbleached linen! Something nubby! Some kind of vegetable dyed African textile!) but overall this is gorgeous! Mind sharing the source on the pouf? :) Julia's Cabin in the Hills Small Cool Contest |

Favorited before I saw the stuff on the bathroom wall. Whyyyyyyyyyyyyy? This place is gorgeous and you've decorated it well, did someone break in and deface your bathroom walls that way?? Emily's Brownstone Studio Small Cool Contest |

I will concede that "MCM" didn't start being used until recently, but that's just short for mid century modern which is a term I remember hearing as early as like, the mid 90s, when I asked my parents if I could redo my room that way. It's not a fad term, it's not a hipster thing, it's a description of what you are talking about. Mid century as in the middle of the 1900s and modern as in it was fresh and brand new at that time. Ten years ago no one cared about MCM? Uh. It literally has not gone out of style since it's inception decades ago. You may not have been paying attention, or were too young to care, or didn't have good design resources to get your information from, but it was actually more popular 10 years ago than it is now. Even La-Z-Boy was in on that action, they put out an entire line of faux MCM furniture and accessories. If that's not an endorsement then I don't know what is.
