anyone who has been to australia knows that they have on/off switches for their power outlets, much like light switches. i don't know why this idea hasn't caught on in other countries. these have been around for who knows how long... sure they're not as attractive as this design, but they work.

i moved into a very large apartment with a tiny bathroom. it's been less than a week and i already dread taking showers. the tiles go pretty high so adding shelving wasn't an option, and i didn't want to add more in there as it's already claustrophobic. thanks to whoever posted that simplehuman caddy, that looks like it may be a better fit than the one i have which is longer than the space between the showerhead and built-in and protruding soapdish, so the only way i can place it is skewing sideways - not pretty.

my solution has been to take things out of the bathroom. i now apply make-up at a vanity in my bedroom, and i bought an ikea wardrobe for storage for things i don't always need in the bathroom.

everyone really is different. thanks to a nutritionist and a trip to finland (where there is also a very high percentage of lactose intolerance), i can now enjoy sheep/goat products, yogurt, and hard cheeses like cheddar and swiss.

i had a blood test done at the dr's: i had some blood taken upon arriving at the office, ate some dairy, and then had blood taken some time after. i can't remember exactly what was tested for, but seems a simple enough request when at the dr's.

i think the pics make it look better than it is. i'm incredulous over the nyt callout
