i love board games! definitely cranium, the "wow" version is a lot of fun. and balderdash and beyond is great! guesstures is a probably our favorite.

i own the set in black and white and agree with others that they are best for display. the smallest one has a very fragile neck that broke and I also had to super-glue it back on. cute, a least in my opinion!

we did all the wedding flowers (boutineers, bridemaids bouquets, centerpieces, flowers in the church, etc.), except my bouquet, which afterwards i thought we could have easily done it just as nice as the florist. i used all callas and mini callas, which hold up very well. i purchased them wholesale from a local florist supplier (with a little research, you can often purchase directly from a wholesaler). kept it simple, just loads and loads of callas in tall vases. for boutineeers and bouquets, just wrap with floral tape and cover the tape with ribbon or silk fabric. sooo easy!

i picked up that exact same desk for free at a garage sale (i believe it's from pier 1). it's solid and in great shape, but the finish was all beat up and the color not right. all i did was rough it up with sandpaper, put a layer of primer on, painted 2 coats of regular interior paint (using a small fine finish foam roller), then did a couple coats of satin finish polyurethane. i painted it a very dark brown and also changed the hardware to polished nickel.

i had originally tried stripping it, but it was just so messy and time consuming. . .not really worth it!

i think it would look great white; maybe it's white distressed with black showing through. glossy black would also be nice. or paint the top b/w check or striped!

i've a beginner at sewing and i agree with the envelope pillow. just did a couple and probably took me 45 mins from start {cutting the fabric to size} to finish {fluff and throw on couch}. there's an awesome envelope pillow tutorial on curbly that i followed.

i like to reuse the sheets to wrap birthday gifts in!

we were living in what i thought was our dream house, a 1920s bungalow on lake michigan that we had spent the last two years lovingly restoring. a series of events starting with an attempted break-in in the middle of the night (then major career change, car accidents, etc.) that were probably some of our most challenging months. anyways, fast forward 2 years later. . .we're now living in an amazing town, have connected with a wonderful community of friends and our careers are headed in a great direction.

what we learned was exactly that, at the end of a day, a house is just walls and shelter and what is most important are people in your life. what an amazing opportunity for the two of you to travel together for 3 months! i bet that is something you would have never considered possible unless something like this came up. . .but what an amazing experience that will be!

eric moser is a talented architect, well-versed in vernacular style. my favorite part of the house is the little office space under the stairs! i don't think the image made it into the main spread, i think it the resources section? there's a little pic and caption if i remember correctly.

favorite of ALL-TIME? that's a tough one for a graphic designer to answer! i'd have to say my current favorite is i am still alive's we are so good together wood type letterpress poster. a simple poster that says precisely how i feel about many things in my life--most of all, being married to my best friend. and of course, it's letterpressed!

i read it and enjoyed it. i've been buying organic foods whenever i can, but never gave much thought to the importance of buying local or "in-season." i thought it was great that everyone in the family was on board, not just the one person or the parents.
