I spent four years of college in Chicago, and by the time that was up I needed to spend some time back on the East coast. But it is a great city and I am considering moving back there eventually. What people have written about the summers is right. Everyone was SO happy after getting enough sun to get over our S.A.D., and there were tons of free and cheap things to do, especially with very accessible parks. It also has the best mexican food in the US outside of the states directly bordering mexico (much better than anything you'd find in NYC for example), and the best soul food outside of the south. It took some time to get used to NYC again after living in a city with such clean open space. (since it was re-built after trolleys were invented, its much less cramped than eastern cities.) Plus, its fantastic being near so much water. Every time I feel a strong, cold wind I get nostalgic! The bathroom is on the floorplan, but storage would be an issue. Its a good idea, and I think if there were a bunch of these painted in bright colors it could give the community an interesting visual effect if not the individual homes. When I moved into my new apartment, my dad and boyfriend were in charge of putting together the furniture that took more than one person. My boyfriend is a southerner and the deference he HAS to show keeps my dad calm and wards off arguments. Maybe when you get past your 20s this no longer works, though. I just had new cushions made for a similar set of chairs. Make sure whoever makes them doesn't overstuff the cushions. By default they but in foam that is 1" thicker than the sewn depth, making the cushion wider in the middle and smaller on the top and bottom. With open sided chairs like this, that makes part of the bottom of the chair show. Plus, the flat cushion fits this style better. But you have to be explicit that you want the foam depth to = the sewn depth. I didn't and what a headache to get it fixed! My dog peed on bathmats when she had a UTI, but that was overnight when she couldn't go out, while your cat has a litterbox available so it might be totally different. However there was something about the bathmat - never on the tiles or wood floor. It was the best place, we could just throw the mats in the wash.
