Just my humble ideas...

Bed on the wall near the front door facing the window. But you don't want to be staring straight into the sun every morning so how about an expedit at the foot of your bed. Not directly on it but a couple of feet away. It will be the right length given the length of your largest closet and the size of a full bed. I would have recommended putting the head of your bed on the "closet" wall, but at 7'6" you won't have much room for bedside tables, and I'm a sucker for tables. I kinda like the little drawer inserts for the expedit too. Good for more private or unattractive stuff. The other good thing is that they make expedits with room for TV's and so if you put it on a swivel stand you can watch it from the living area as well as the bed area. (it will be a little close to the bed)

I'm a big fan of putting your dining area in the sunniest part (ie near the window). Something round with few legs will present the least obstruction of light to the rest of your apartment (e.g. something like the Saarinen tulip table). And maybe some lucite chairs. I love the CB2 vapor chairs. They are very comfy.

the couch I guess will depend on how you solve your TV dilemma. If you put it in the expedit then facing away from the window may be good. But either way, I think a good area rug in the center living area will be crucial.

Either way have fun. A lot of times it takes a while to know how a place should really be so don't rush and buy a lot of furniture. Live in it for a bit and the place will dictate what type of furniture and where it belongs.

Oh and PS... this article may help as far as ideas:

Layout Ideas for My First Studio Apartment? Good Questions | Apartment Therapy Chicago

Wow! This is gorgeous. I was trying to figure out what to do with my night stand (it is melamine... boo!... hard to paint.) But one quick question, did you get the glass pre-drilled with holes to put the handles through? And this may be a dumb question, but I am NOT craft... when you say gelatin, do you mean regular plain old unflavored knox gelatin?
Either way... kudos to you! gorgeous bureau!

Sophisticated and eclectic? Hmmm... I would try light upholstery with dark-medium wood frames to anchor the space (otherwise everything might look to floaty). If you want to maintain the light-ness, keep the color on pillows, throw blankets, carpets, chairs and window treatments. But there are so many things you could do! It is gorgeous. Congrats on your purchase!

I agree with the above. If you like those pics, maybe frame and mat them... so they just take a little more space. Hang the middle of the pic so it sits at around 57 inches. (It will feel low as you are putting in the hooks, but it will look so much more modern!). A foot stool is nice and a throw blanket is great for lounging around. Maybe a small shelf (like west elm's chunky wall shelf) on both walls... will unite the corner, it's a place to put a drink and your pics.

If you feel like your apt. gets lots of light consider painting most/all of the walls, but if it is dark, I would definitely leave some of them white.

I agree with JV on the chair comment... maybe move it somewhere else and make a reading area with a nice library-looking articulated silver or brass floor lamp? I wouldn't touch the couches until you decide on a wall color because then you might not like your couches with your walls. I would stay more neutral. I saw a very pretty color called Veil Cream in Domino Mag... a beige color with a bit of gold (looked beige) which was neutral and you could build upon.

As for the entertainment center... Ummm... well if I could be honest, I really do not like it. It is very Shaker style and not consistent with the style you seem to want... plus it takes up so so much room. Why don't you guys move it out (and while it is out paint the walls) and then get something that incorporates book storage for your books. These are only my opinion though and my place doesn't look so hot either so you can ignore me if you would like. :)
