Leave it. Or, really go for it and paint it with spiral stripes a la a barber-shop pole.

I see artwork hung salon style in the hallway and stairwell (see link).

I pick up a lot of great, original (and inexpensive) artwork at our local Junior League thrift and other thrift stores.

I'm only saying this because I am having a bad day of copy editing: It’s "A Color-Based Collection." Compound adjectives are hyphenated in this instance.

I know that karma is going to get me back for sounding like such a curmudgeon.

I love your stuff… and I feel better now.

p.s.
Have you ever seen the film "Girls Will be Girls?" There's a great scene concerning the bicentennial room. It's an awful room and an hilarious scene!

If my house weren't already in danger of being too dark, I would totally paint one (or all 4) of my fireplaces black. I especially like the matte finish.

It's only paint, right?!

I even like the restrooms at Hogwarts! Rows of tall, porcelain urinals, towering windows and triple sinks.

Very retro-modern.

We'll be hosting a "themed" dinner party for the premiere. Pate on crackers, drinks served in mason jars, and corn on the cob - served sofa side.

There are plenty of things that annoy me. But as for "biggest pet peeve," I have to say that leaving the toilet lid (not just the seat) UP annoys me. Men or women.

One even sees toilet lids photographed in the open position in real estate listings!

Why why why? It looks so trashy to me. CAP. IT. OFF.

Or, if you can't seem to close the lid, remove it altogether. And take your cabinet doors off while you're at it.

Jeesh...

Fresh flowers, of course. And a few travel-sized toiletries (like a tooth brush and paste) can come in handy for visitors.

Love the idea! I had a friend who hung a very large chandelier in a small bathroom. It was really fun.

I've adapted the idea and just hung a chandelier in the hallway between my bedroom, the master bath and the closet. I strung additional strands of colored glass beads to give it an extra kick, and installed a dimmer.

I love it.

If you have not seen Beineix's movie "DIVA" from the 80's, it's a must that you do.

All the living spaces are incredible, but nothing tops the loft with the clawfoot tub at the end of an immense hallway...

Love it. I actually painted a front door red once, then I painted it with a cow pattern. Most of the neighbors loved it. Find your neighbors who love your red door and you may find some new friends!

I love the idea of mis-matched chairs in the same stain as the table.

Another thought - though perhaps TOO much of a contrast - is the Philip Stark Ghost Chair.

It would go in my study, in front of the glass and chrome table and my Room&Board Jasper sofa. It would be the perfect spot to stand, kneel or lay while choosing a book from the adjacent book case.
