Yes, please a summary of the meeting would be awesome! I have also been a big follower of Hable for years- back to when their website consisted of one homepage! They were one of my inspirations to start my own interior design business. I always wanted to create and sell my own pillows, but couldn't figure out how to get started- how did they make money? and continue to be able to sell these creations at the high prices? What or who is their biggest competitor? Has the advent of Etsy had any effect on what they do, good or bad? How did they get involved with the Hungarian Womens Coop?

Agree with above comment. My thoughts exactly. Cotton velvet would look great especially if keeping nailhead trim. Also definitely stain legs dark. Good luck!

I Immediately thought of white to keep it fresh, and not to dark. I like your west elm choice. What about this one from Restoration Hardware

The structure and sophistication of the blue embroidery would be a nice background for your eclectic array of pillows. Plus like someone else said, patterns tire and date easily. Good luck!

With a less labor intensive project, you could still make the paper chain- but use decorative papers instead. There are some really graphic fun prints that come in booklets used primarily for scrapbookers.

Great job on the place. It is really high style and the storage systems you have are unbelievable. That said I would really love to know how comfortable you are/guests are lounging in the living room. I love the look but it doesn't seem at all practical or inviting- in that sense it seems cold. The chaise lounge is your comfy piece I'm guessing, but how comfy is it to only be able to sit in one position? Can you really curl up and watch tv on that or the built in benches? would love to know your honest opinion design aesthetic aside.

Hider, can't concentrate with things strewn about, although I too can get lazy and let "organized" piles of stuff accumulate.

You get my vote for winner even if you don't win. It's original and "you" even though I don't know you! I like that it is well designed, but not over designed AND very comfortable still. The best of both worlds. Congrats for making it all the way.

I am going to bust Jesse's bubble just a tiny little bit. I preface this by saying I have voted for Jesse's place both rounds now. I kept looking at the first picture and thinking it looks so familiar, like I'd seen a designer do it, and then I remembered... I did see it. In Domino! Domino's top 10 designer, Mallory Mathison, had an almost identical foyer picture.

Its okay though...who doesn't copy a designer look every now and again. You've made a great home nonetheless.

Oh, to SRW, Again & Again consignment on Henderson Ave is AWESOME for both style and prices! They refurbish onsite as well.

Yojmac, great looking place and congrats on making it to the next round. I wish I could say the same, but I'm out:( and I am a professional too! However, I just wanted to point out that we eerily have similar taste. I have the Chinoiserie shams as well (though skimped on the duvet for save $$$) and the same IKEA fabric on my bulletin boards in my home office!

Open_skies, you could just take the mat to Michaels or other and have recut your current mat a bit so it fits better.....or you could buy the mat knife and do it yourself!

The Rothko copy is from Crate and Barrel about 5 years ago.....I bought the floor sample as it was their last one.

Wow, I'm excited that is almost my exact color palette in my living and dining rooms, although I have some other colors mixed in as well.

Thanks! I made the shades from IKEA fabric-by-the-yard. It is the "katarina" fabric

Hi Meg here. "Jezebella" is right.......not a real Rothko if there was still any doubt, but I wish it was!!! Thanks for the great comments though.

Your designer friend has great taste. I can tell you lean traditional, but it looks like he really worked with you to kick your color palette up a notch and mix your traditional with some modern, hip pieces. No so 'burby anymore.

I agree pretty much with mcchatelaine had to say...I was quite diappointed when I saw the spread. It is just TOO much although I can see some of her fabrics are really nice. Mixing them in with other period styles would have been better. It seems like most trends take some time for people to get use to. Does anyone remember disliking mid-century about 15 years ago when it was just becoming hot on the scene again. (Granted I was a mere 15 year old design novice at the time.)

what is this countertop material? Looks like it could be honed black granite or richlite.
