Personally I would paint it all (and have done so in my house) but be aware that many people feel it is a "sin" to paint wood so may make it unattractive to those potential buyers when you move one day. It is a pain painting it all and I did it little by little since painting trim is the most tedious of paint jobs. But I think it would be odd to pick and choose and paint just some of it and not all. I really need a system like this but the cost is prohibitive. Anyone know of something similar but cheaper? I have to hang a lot of pieces on one wall. Apartment Therapy Chicago | AS Hanging Systems |

In the same vein as the rubber glove - if you have any bits of that nubby rubber shelf liner (the same stuff is sold as rug padding too) it also works well. I save scraps, use them to get up the cat hair. Apartment Therapy Los Angeles | Simple Green: Pet Hair Edition |

As previously stated - if at all possible go on a weekday - the difference is amazing. Also if your husband gets IKEA-d out too quickly - you park him in the restaurant section with a book or magazine; he can get coffee and snacks when the mood strikes and should be happy. I do the top floor - then go back check on dh and set a meeting time to be at the warehouse ready to either haul stuff out of aisles and bins or just checkout.
