It would drive me nuts to have my books organized by color. How would you ever find the book you were looking for? "Oh, yeah, I forgot, Poe is in the red section." One of my favorite books on book collecting and reading is Anne Fadiman's "Ex Libris: Confessions of a Common Reader." There's a terrific chapter on how she and her husband kept their book collections separate for years (and organized in starkly different ways) and how she finally knew they were committed to the relationship after 8 or so years when they decided to merge their collections. The trip isn't over until the suitcases are unpacked and put back in the attic, the dirty clothes are in the laundry baskets and the clean ones put back where they go. Then I sort through the mail. It usually takes no more than an hour to 90 minutes to do all that; I work fast. I just don't want to wake up to that mess in the morning. I'd rather wake up remembering a good trip. My neighborhood every 17 years when the cicadas visit. It's like having an airport in your backyard. Thank goodness they sleep for the next 16. Apartment Therapy Chicago | Neighborhood Noise |

It should say "in an up-and-coming neighborhood," not "in an upcoming neighborhood." Also the house itself is nice but bland. And yes, far, far too many kitchen shots. Apartment Therapy New York | DC House Tour: Drew Syd's Fab Rehab in Columbia Heights |

I like the old sofa better. The new one doesn't work with the coffee table or the paint color on the walls. Apartment Therapy Chicago | AT Book Alert: Update on Dana |

Well, I didn't sense animosity between the two of them, just 2 people unused to being in front of a camera. How refreshing. I liked what they did to the room (except for the lamp; I would be tripping over that constantly) and how they explained what they were doing. At the risk of sounding like a shill for C&B, we bought this table last summer and use it on the deck all the time. The grown ups sit at one table and the kids sit around this table. We have round cushions for them to sit on and they love it. The table is surprisingly sturdy, and it's nice to be able to put it away when the guests have left. It's comfortable for adults as well and seems heavy enough that you would need a pretty strong wind to blow it away. OK, so I do sound like a shill. But it's still a useful piece. Sadly, my parents and grandparents provided more of a lesson on how NOT to decorate. How not to put Virgin Mary statues in the back yard and fake deer in the front. How not to cover every available surface with picture frames, animal statues, candy jars, Hummels, and Lladro. But it was a valuable lesson nonetheless. I don't see a problem with the sponsored posts, either. They're a fact of publishing life. If I'm not interested, I'll skip over it, just like I do over any other post. And it is exactly like the "special advertising sections" that are in glossy magazines. The glossies don't see the need to point out in huge type that THIS IS ADVERTISING. We can figure it out.
