jamieson - no you're not neurotic - you're the child carer that I'd pay over the odds to have look after my kid because you take it seriously - kudos to you

I've found that the most important aspect of any high chair is the straps - get one that has straps that go over the shoulders as well as across the lap - the five point rather than the two or three point ones - the minute they get to the wriggly/crawly stage its a nightmare unless you have the shoulder straps as they can just get out of the lap straps

I recently had a lunch with four other mums all of us with babies in a place that had the high chairs with only lap straps and it was total chaos!!

She doesn't mention how to use the frozen portions - would you lets them defrost before warming them and feeding to baby or would you blitz them in the microwave and them wait for them to cool down before feeding baby - either way seems to involve waiting - any thoughts?

If they "just need a dusting" I use an old toothbrush - works really well to get rid of dust thats settled on them if thye've been sitting around on a shelf and keeps the pile/plush looking good too

I always try to make sure that what I put out at parties to dip is small enough to get in your mouth in one go - then double-dipping isn't an issue - just chop your crudites smaller! - its those big triangular tortilla chips that cause the problems!!

I've never used unsalted butter in my cooking - mainly because you'd be hard pressed to find it for sale in the UK - I use salted in everything, sweet or savoury, and have never had a problem - just go for it!

ANY food will go mouldy if a contaminant gets in there - and once you've opened it and let some air into the bottle then you've got a potential contaminant stiuation as you never know what kind of spores are floating about in your air - so once opened its best to finish off food as soon as is practical

Sorry y'all but if I read something that suggests there might be a link between something I was doing and the possible death of my child - even if not proven yet - then I'd seriously consider changing what I was doing.

I would never put my child at risk if I could do something simple to prevent it - there no reason you couldn't put a cot right next to your own bed if you wanted to keep the child close to you but still safe in their own area.

Yes this particular article does indicate that drink and/or drugs might play some part too - but, as other posters have indicated, there are no definitive reasons that we know of yet for cot death - so surely its worth taking note of all possible factors - and are all you co-sleepers telling me you are tee-total???

Excellent for the store as you are paying for the weight of the water left on the berries that you scoop up!!!

I always seat the kids next to their parents rather than on a separate table - its so much easier for the adults to then keep discipline and help them with their food if need be rather than jumping up and down from the main table

This has obviously worked well for them but co-sleeping with your baby in your big bed is not recommended by health-care professionals as it can increase the risk of cot death - its been reported (http://www.guardian.co.uk/society/2009/oct/14/cot-deaths-sharing-bed-parents) that over half of all cot deaths occurred when the baby was sleeping with the parent either in their bed or on a sofa - its always best to have a separate sleeping place for baby no matter how small your living space is

"My one interaction with her made it crystal clear why those apples fell the way they did."

A perfect example of the very people who need this kind of instruction being the very ones who don't care enough to provide it - *sigh*

Aren't all the things on that list the things that parents automatically teach their children? - isn't that what parenting is all about? - teaching your child how to behave and cope with the world?

I have a sneaking suspicion that the kind of people who actually need a class like this are the least likely to actually send their child to a class like this...

Of course - they are your property now to do with as you like - plus someone paid for them in the first place - so go right ahead

Slobound - exactly what I was going to say about the height of things on the walls - I imagine that would be very frustrating for a small child not to be able to see whats up there

I would be very wary about giving these out to kids for Halloween - they will be expecting to get candy and swallowing one of these would be no fun for anyone!

This is the only tea I will drink - and what my family has always used - very sweet to see it featured on a US site.

"Its what they call in Britain 'builders tea'. You can stand your spoon up in it"

This is not true at all - the strength of a cup of tea is determined by how long you let it brew for - if you're getting "builders" tea from it then you're letting it sit in the water for too long - each type of tea needs a different steeping time - so if you don't like it as strong then pull it out of the water sooner!
I like mine quite weak and PG Tips work fine for me!
