Yes! Today is a perfect day to declutter and clean.
Create a pile of stuff, toys, winter clothes, what ever and take it to your local Salvation Army or thrift store.
If you don't want to be inside all day you can give the yard that final touch before winter really sets in. And hang the lights even if it's too soon for other decorations.
Or take a loooong walk.
ANYTHING to stay out of the stores.

Oh and I'd be tempted to make a "seating" area and a "table" area.

Have you tried "angling" the furniture instead of always parallel to a wall?

Angle the sofa from just the window side of the fireplace toward the doors and into the corner. Use tables behind the sofa.
Then place other chairs parrallel to the new angle or curve them.

Some of this really depends on how you are using the room. Is it a seating area? and place where you entertain company? Do you use it to read and relax. I didn't see a TV. So how *you* use it most of the time is what should most affect the arrangement.

How do you get the bike off and on yo the wall without marking the wall up? Do you hose the bike before you hang it?

What color does your landscape have? Do those bushes flower? Are you planning a garden? White columns will help ground the house from the roof to the yard. The color of your house is totally up to you. I like Yellow; a bright, dark yellow... like the egg yolk yellow of a farm yard raised chicken but any color will work. Use accent colors that highlight the color most likely to be in the blooms in your yard. It makes that house one with the landscape while still "standing out".

Can you move the corner bookshelf into a corner of your bedroom and then move the large dresser so that its back is parrallel with the built in room divider and then place a small table for your indoor dining area?

Regardless of the brand... always run your hand around the inside of the lip if the toliet bowl. If this surface is rough then don't buy it. You want smooth porcelian finish everywhere.

Black shutters & black patio furniture unify the look. I wonder why 2 paving stone types. Like the grey random paving stones. Don't get why they didn't just stuck with this. Think the yard might look bigger with only one stone type. That said it's a great job. Beautiful. CVS as inspiration. ,-)

Purge what you don't need. Do this by removing everything you can (permission) of the owner from the room. Return only what you need. Really need.

Get a platform bed. One you can store lots of things under. Make it as high as is comfortable to get in and out of.

Use the vertical space. If you are going to go with a loft, make it storage/reading nook.

Clear the visual clutter by painting. I agree with the wallpaper comments.

Tradition is so much older than the 70s... came to the US with Italian immigrants... New Orleanians have been doing this for at least 100 years. Some of ya'll are wound a bit too tight. We do St Joseph altars and have lucky beans in our wallets....even those of us who seen't Italian or Catholic.

Anyone who lived through post Katrina New Orleans totally understands the value of some stuff and the lack of value of other stuff. We only get new stuff if it is stuff that we can take with us in an evacuation or are willing to drag to the curb post disaster. Changes your perspective.

I Love the's creative and clean...BUT anytime the dryer hose has to wind it's way to the outside world, you are asking for trouble. Can you move the set up to the other wall So that the hose slides right out of the house?
