Pretty much any DIY takes up 100% of the floor space in my studio, but that's really good motivation for finishing projects and not just letting them linger.

I haven't spray painted anything in my place yet, but I've thought about doing so down in the basement where the building's trash goes... even if something gets sprayed I can't imagine it mattering. I might also try spray painting in the spring out on the sidewalk/street in front of my building. There's a fire hydrant in front of my building so no one can park there anyway.

I agree with Pi. Nothing is truly permanent. Think about how long you're planning to stay, and what the financial impact of removing all the wallpaper and returning to the apartment to it's current state is when you leave. If you still want the wallpaper, knowing how much it will cost to get rid of, you should approach it as a business transaction, either by trying to incorporate it into the lease, or signing some type of supplemental contract.

@HHRI-- A job in children's publishing lands you a rainbow bookcase really quickly, although there are plenty of non-children's books with colorful spines. Off the top of my head, The Happiness Project is yellow, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time is red/orange, Cold Mountain is blue, and The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay is yellow/orange.
