I worked at a flower shop for a few years, and to keep our stock of plants pretty, aside from removing yellow leaves and stray roots, we used leafshine spray. Pokon was one of the brands, and it was basically aerated vegetable oil that we'd spray on like hair spray once a week. The oil would keep dust from settling as well as make them super duper shiny.

Small touches can help. Refinish the wood frame to something much darker, and swap out those colorful (& zebra) pillows to something you consider more masculine. No velvet or velour, no animal print, nothing shiny or ruffly or fussy. Darker colors in muted tones, in materials like linen or cotton would work. Maybe find a (non-floral) rug that compliments the sofa and the rest of your decor, and pull colors out of that for the sofa pillows, as well as a throw blanket to block some of that orange and gold floral.

Thirded, tuberose! And when you go back to the florist to ask for it, it's pronounced tuber-rose.

The duvet cover idea seems pretty brilliant to me. That way you can remove it and wash it easily, or swap it out for another one. Or, if you're crafty, you can sew up your own.

At first I thought the air duct was slinkies, and I was sadly wrong. Swap it out for a bunch of different sized slinkies, and I'm in!

Try the TV on the wall of Bedroom #3, so your couch/chairs are facing "north" and you can make a pathway along the wall of the Utility room to the bathroom. Or, put the TV on the Utility room wall, float your coach in the middle, facing "east," and people can walk BEHIND the couch. If you put a coffee table in front of the couch, there won't be much room for walking anyway.

As far as creating a foyer, if there's room, you could install two sturdy book shelves, one on each side of the door, jutting out into the living room. Have the shelves be open to the rooms, and install coat hooks on their backs, ie in the foyer. I don't know if that'd work, with your room only being about 12' wide, though.

I bought a Kivik about 7 months ago, and I haven't had any major problems with it. I rotate the cushions regularly so they wear evenly, and have washed and dried the covers once after dogsitting for a friend. They did shrink a little but I was still able to get them over the cushions, and after a week or so of sitting they squished back out to their original size. I would advise against the white, as I have seen white Kiviks at used furniture stores, and they look pretty gross. The white shows dirt very easily, and I don't know how well the material cleans up.

I agree with needing more color. I'd love to see a paler shade on the walls, and a pop of color on the ceiling to highlight the beautiful trim. With those big windows, it seems like you get a lot of natural light, so the room can even handle deeper, more dramatic colors. The art above the sofa is rather staid. Instead of replacing it, maybe rearrange the pieces to create some asymmetry. Have fun with it! Be whimsical and adventurous.

What's Needed in This Room? Good Questions

I agree with the sentiment about utilizing texture to make it feel more feminine. Velvet, plush, silk, faux fur, and metallics layered in with leather will strike a comfortable, cozy balance. Also incorporate some pattern and color, like a modern floral in neutral tones, or whatever your favorite color is, blended with gray. Most importantly, don't worry about what other people tell you is masculine or feminine. If YOU feel like your room is leaning more man-cave than Aubrey-apartment, just throw in some sparkle :)

I saw this on Design on a Dime, and they used a piece of chicken wire mesh for the bottoms of the planted holes. It is enough to hold the soil in place, but also allows for ample drainage.
