I'm a renter too. So I hear ya on the cable jacks keeping you from making a room what you want it to be. We got around this by buying a longer cable and running it under the carpet. You should be able to pull it up fairly easily at the wall. The tough part is getting it to feed as far as you want it to go. We got a long pole that is called "fish stix" made by a company that makes fishing poles. It flexes so it will go under the carpet to push the cord where you want it to go. Then you can just put a piece of furniture in front of the cable jack and no one will be the wiser. You can just pull the cable back out when you move, and push the carpet back down against the tack strip. Don't let a cable jack limit your creative genius!

Yick! I'm not much of a soapbox kind of person but I'm trying to keep dead things out of my house instead of inviting them to sit on my dining room table.

ah... NC is so beautiful in so many ways! I have beach when I want it, mountains when I miss them, and a lovely small and affordable place to call home somewhere in the middle. I forget how lucky I am sometimes.

It was a joke. I want this useless device just about as much as I want another TV which is not at all. ;)

I'm with you Universal. I just started working at a hospital and I've never been a germaphobe before. Now I'm expected to be using those gels till my skin falls off. I've always been a really healthy person too. I have so much sick leave saved up I could never use it all. Just this week I got sick for the first time in years because of my new job. What is a girl to do?

Mayo. Hold the Mayo or no deal! Oh yea, and anything with too many eggs. One or two is fine, but when you have a cake with a dozen eggs in it, it is no longer a cake. It's an omelet.

Don't know if you're an ebayer, but this is the lowest price around. Granted, it does say red stripe on it so that might be a turn off for you.

I'd make my favorite roasted red pepper and walnut dip. Ooooh and veggie chili. It would be the perfect space saving, eco-friendly, and aerobic activity encouraging replacement for my broken, too big for the kitchen, energy sucking, noise polluting blender.

I have a cork board which I have hinged behind a picture frame so that the picture frame flips up when I need to look at my notes. I like to be able to look at my clutter when I need to, but also hide it easily. It's a good place to put coupons, a calendar, and a grocery list.

To address the non-magnetic fridge issue, you can buy inexpensive metal flashing in rolls at the hardware store which can be attached to the wall, the fridge, or the inside of a door. Make sure to bring a magnet with you to the store though. Not all types are magnetic.

We've been using this mouse for a few years too and love it. We have one that is big people sized for him. And one that is tiny people sized for me as I have freakishly small hands. It works really well. The only complaint I have is that our new computer armoire does not have enough clearance on the pull out keyboard drawer for it to slide under easily. Other than that it really saves my wrist.

I'm a renter and we moved into an apartment with some nasty oil stains on the concrete patio. I think the previous renter kept his motorcycle out there or something. Last summer I bought a cheap cotton drop cloth from the hardware store, cut it to size, hemmed the edges and painted it a simple white. I couldn't be happier with it. I'm thinking of painting it again this summer, maybe some zebra stripes to spice it up a little.
