The drawer is a little bit "sticky" since it's not on rails or anything. I think it's just something you have to get used to, since it really hasn't bothered us at all and we've had them for a few months now. It's also a lot better once you put some stuff in there, since the drawer has some weight to kind of slide on, instead of skipping on the way out and making hollow metallic sounds. :) Overall, we love these desks (and they're a good price!) so I'd recommend them for sure.

Here's some clarification on our intent with this collection. Our philosophy is that we don't need to label every single area on a purely decorative piece like this. That's what makes conventional maps so cluttered and unsuitable for display in a fine art context. We think of our work as an artistic overview of a geographic area, not as a technically complete representation of the region.

There are plenty of options out there for those who want a Rand McNally style political map, complete with every single boundary, countries, and capitals. That's why we created a map that retains a basic level of functionality while emphasizing its decorative potential.

HappyGoVintage, the lack of wall hangings is because the plaster-over-brick walls are a nightmare to drill into, haha. Also can't wait to have a more permanent place so I can swap out some of the IKEA! :)
