While the handle is nice, it takes away some of the features of the KitchenAid that I love- the front attachments that really make my stand mixer a multi-tasker.
I do like the timer addition though.

3:00? I wish. By the time the bus got to our stop it was after 4:30 so we just waited till dinner at 5. Ah, the joys of living out in the middle of nowhere. Junior year and my own car meant a snack before work though, usually a pack of crackers and a can of warm coke!

Herms, check your local transfer station/dump/recycling center or ask on Freecycle. One of my pans came from the dump and one of my mom's from the side of the road.

We've always sandblasted rust off ours. Or I should say, my Dad sandblasted ours. My ex left my pan out in the rain for two days when I was moving out and I was so upset thinking he ruined it. My dad took it home and two days later I had it back good as new. I use my small one every day, and just do like the post says, wipe it out, give it a quick swipe of oil, and let it cool on the burner.

My favorite is crunchy peanut butter with honey or maple ham and provolone cheese. Toasted garlic bread is a bonus, but white bread is my usual.

To S and the r: I'd like some of that three berry tart if you'd be willing to send some! ;-) It sounds good, with either the lemon curd or the almond cream.

I've got coconut ice cream in the machine right now. And I've been hankering grilled corn on the cob. So that's on the menu for this weekend.

Check with your local library- they may be able to use them. We are constantly handing patrons plastic bags, but would rather see more of the re-usable bags coming in and out. With budgets the way they are none of us can hand out free re-usable bags, as much as we would like to.

In the past I've collected clementine boxes and used them as mini gardens for kids. (I run a Story Time program) The boxes are just the right size for the kids to organize their garden how they want with several types of plants, and it was portable! The kids can also customize the box with paints if you have enough time.

I'm wondering about using Magnetic Paint and then covering it with the Chalkboard Paint instead of bothering with cutting sheets of steel. It's probably less expensive too. I believe you can get small jars of both types of paint at craft stores, but I know you can get them online.

I'm not sure I can see $400 for 2 cocktail tables as affordable...

I made this cake for my boyfriend's birthday last week, and we both loved it.

It is heavier then expected though. We figured it would be light, but it's got more of a sponge cake feel to it. It also made an enormous amount of cake. I doubled like the recipe said, and really should have used three cake pans (I had a bit of leakage!). Next time I won't double. The frosting is fabulous though. It would be perfect for the cupcakes in ice cream cones too!
