Congrats!

One of my favorite recent recipes was your easy Irish soda bread - made it for St. Patrick's Day and it was SUCH a success! I also love it because it's a fantastic basic that can be enjoyed year round (and a great thing to bring to a potluck because it makes you look so fancy!)

I also loved your "10 Recipes to Know by Heart" article ( HERE! ) - refer to this one all the time!

Oh and I'm a law student now, so almost everything for class is done on a laptop. I prefer to handwrite my notes but the sheer volume/speed at which my professors lecture makes that impossible.

Note To Self: Pen & Paper or App?

It honestly depends on the application.

I prefer to use a journal - one per major project, organization, etc. I'm less distracted in meetings and can easily add drawings, diagrams, etc.

If I'm on the go and I don't have my notebook, I jot it down on my phone and then add it to my notebook later.

But if I'm working in a group setting where we may all need access to the same vital info on the fly, then I stick with a combo of Word docs and Dropbox. I coordinated a massive event back in April and Dropbox was a lifeline. I was the one creating most of the documents, but Dropbox saved me the headache of having to email everyone the most current version.

We don't have those laws where I live but I wish we did. I sometimes forget my bags (for that quick run-in) but I don't mind spending a little more for those times. I do still like to get my meat wrapped in plastic though so it doesn't leak, but I always recycle those next time I go to the grocery.

Over the last 10 years (since I started HS):

Cameras: doesn't really count because I'm a photographer, does it? Well, okay, not counting my film cameras (which I don't count because I collect old ones and then inherited the ones I currently use): 4 (2 still in use)

Cell Phones: 6 (one of those was a replacement phone for free, and 2 are still in use)

Tablets: 2 (iPad and Kindle, both still in use)

Computers: 4 (one was a desktop I got in 1997 that my family still uses, and one is in use)

Wow that looks bad!!

I'm about to move out onto my own and am looking at my cable options. I've considered going cable free but I'm a big sports fan and unfortunately, there aren't really any options for me without cable (I watch a lot of college sports and no packages that I have found give you access to those games).

But I have some advice for your step 1 - Sidereel (www.sidereel.com) has a "track show" option that's pretty cool. You select the shows you watch and can check off each episode you've seen (or whole seasons at once). Really helpful if you're going back and watching a show so you can keep track of which episode you're on. But more importantly for these purposes, it shows you what network the shows on, when episodes next air, and where they're legally available to watch (which could help you determine which option to go with). And they even make a calendar for you to see what shows are on when!

Love them all, especially #4. I used to journal, but I don't have time anymore for extensive, long, reflective entries, so I started using Keel's Simple Diary (http://www.simplediary.com/) for short little reflections. I love it because I don't really have to think about what I'm doing but it gives me time to pause!

I love the solid shampoo/conditioner from Lush for travel - they're small and won't explode on airplanes from the pressure! They take some getting used to but definitely love them!

I love using solid shampoo and conditioners when I travel - they don't take up a lot of space, there's no bottles/liquids to worry about for TSA travel guidelines (not to mention, no fear that changes in altitude will cause your bottles to explode and make messes in your bags), and they're eco-friendly. Plus they last a really long time! I buy mine from Lush - they smell great and work well!

I'm also a huge fan of the Kindle for travel. I've also tipped friends off to the Kindle app for Mac - you're probably going to travel with your laptop anyway, so download the app (for free I believe!) and you can read that 1000 page book without taking up any space!

Summer Suitcase: Tips for Packing Lightly

I have a change jar, but I'm a bit more OCD about it - I actually have two jars. When I'm emptying out my pockets/wallet, I separate the change. One jar is used EXCLUSIVELY for quarters, while everything else goes in the other. This way, when I know I'm heading somewhere with parking meters (or other activities that rely on quarters), I don't have to dig around for anything!

I struggle with this all the time - I like to have something sweet after a meal but never want to overload. I keep a glass jar of Hershey's kisses around just for that - perfect way to have some chocolate without overdoing it.

But here's my big conundrum. I love to bake and often do so as a stress reliever. but I never know how to cut my recipes down for smaller portions (specifically for boxed mixes). Halving it is easy, but what about when I just want a few cupcakes and not a dozen? I'm not working right now and it's often tricky to pass them off to my friends during the week because of everyone's busy schedules. Any advice?
