I believe it's a ashtray. No joke. My grandparents had a similar piece in their sitting room, though it had stone bowls in the brass dishes.

Oooh, my favorite!

We usually make our summer afternoon concoctions using canada dry tonic, Hendrick's Gin (the finest Gin known to man...)....and sometimes a splash of Rosewater in the mix. Even just a quick rinse of the glass with rosewater pre-pour gives it a little something special.

I use it as a Tisane when I have a cold. It's refreshing and therapeutic!

You could couple the above stated Grundtal rail/hooks, with this idea from the Kitchn:

I usually use the chef-knife method, but when I've had particularly large melons in the past, I've used a piece of wire as a garrote-like saw(wrapped around wooden dowels at either end), or a camp saw (same idea, but commercially bought with plastic handles)

I made a small slice on the top of the melon, laid the wire in it, turned the melon over and sawed back and forth until it was all the way through.

This image was part of the infamous 'Dover Sampler' a few months back. I did the same sort of thing with these images myself, matted (as suggested above), and printed with my very own printer.
