Wow. I would not have even thought twice about that cart - not for a second.

The little photoshoot at the end is kind of funny to include, right?

But lots of nice shots/stuff. Nix mix of old and new.

This definitely not an "issue" for anyone I know. But mostly, I'd be worried that someone who wasn't invited to the dinner party would see all their friends there, and be sad.

I got one for Christmas: http://doggieeyes.blogspot.com/2012/01/down.html
It's so tiny and nice!

Don't plan around Ikea!
(I mean, it's hard to really tell how things are in that particular house, but in general? It can seem awkward when someone's planned a room in order to accommodate one big piece that they love. Especially if that piece is totally replaceable and in every house ever.)

I like it okay - maybe with a really cozy rug.

(Also, isn't it "the bigger they come, the _harder_ they fall"?)

Those upside down planters are a pain. I don't have those specific ones (I have a different brand), but the plants don't seem to really like being upside down, and they're hard to fill when the plants look thirsty, and sometimes they leak dirty water.
Pass.
Some of these other ideas look good though!

Hey JodieAnn and company - for the record, I wrote in the question, but have no actual intentions of presenting these ideas to children - I don't even have any.
I was actually more interested as a psych student - I wanted to know if there EXISTED a simplified version of these ideas, not whether it was moral or good to push any interests on any kids.

Everybody else, thanks for the suggestions! Sorry I wasn't more specific about ages or anything, it was more of a general inquiry to find whether this had been approached before.

I'm not trying to do anything fancy (pretty much just use Netflix, Hulu+, a little Pandora), and I LOVE my Roku 2.
High high recommend. Easy to set-up, easy to use.

Oooh! What nice collections! And plants! And everything seems so well...curated(?).

It feels masculine, but not over-designed. And it's well photographed!

AT: can we get more floorplans with House Tours? I love when they're included - really helps a viewer "figure out" the space.

I feel like it's a little extreme to need to know where all your guests are. I mean, I guess it's nice that you were able to direct your friend, but it seems like something he could do on his own, with GPS.

So: I'll pass. I'll just see you when I see you.

I think maybe just make cooler, custom roller blinds. There's a few tutorials on the web. It would be super low-cost, and you'll still be able to see the cool architectural details.

I'm kind of an "ask forgiveness, not permission" renter, and would have been more inclined to just paint the crosses right on the wall and then wing it when I moved out. Maybe not the wisest, but I've actually never had a landlord hold deposit for anything on walls - paint, wallpaper, or otherwise. I guess I've just lucked out.

That being said: this is the kind of project I'd like to see more of on AT!

Sorry guys, no dis - it was mostly a joke.
But for real: when it comes down to it, these ideas are pretty much "keep using it", "use it in a different room", and "try out this dangerous project with no instructions".
Perhaps the reasons it's hard to find photos of these ideas is that they're either super basic, or too complicated to be worth it.

Not a single one of these "inspiration" shots shows an old tv being repurposed.
Weird.

Find a discount fabric store, and hit the $1/yard section. You'll (hopefully) find something you like! Just buy a million yards of it, and have somebody hem them up! (You could also put your project on etsy and have crafters bid on it).
Definitely worth a try, but I'd keep it low-budget unless you're sure.
