so it's unsanitary to wash your dishes in the bathtub-- but not your body? i'm confused. ;)

i think everyone who ever went to college had to use their bathroom as a makeshift kitchen in some way.

we had a similarly ugly round bare fluorscent light fixture...just bought a cheap (but cute) $20 ceiling light at Home Depot and got the handy-man to install it. They're very easy to install, you could probably do it yourself, get your Super/Landlord, or maybe a helpful neighbor? Because even with the paper lantern, the light it gives off is still un-pretty.

The lanterns, however, are perfect for covering bare bulbs! They balance on the lip of the socket that holds the bulb in, no problem!

first time my boyfriend and I saw the tram we went "WTF IS THAT" completely disregarding the fact that it was in Spiderman. We pop over just for funsies, to read books in the little park, and to use up time on our 2 hour wait for frozen hot chocolate at Serendipity...

oh that's why i said "acceptable"...i know the food is sub-par, but i think the margaritas are rather good. and the chips are free, which isn't true for some of the "better" mexican places. and $5 happy hour at the bar... we're still in the dirt-poor twentysomething phase...

the Glessner family lived on an estate in New Hampshire called The Rocks...it is now a conservation and education center, not to mention a Martha Stewart Approved Christmas Tree Farm! I go every Thanksgiving for a Horse Drawn wagon ride (with a tourguide who tells you this history of the estate) a small craft fair, and cutting your own Christmas Tree. Check it out!
