Whoa! I'm pretty sure I used to live in the apartment right across the hall! My kitchen was very similar, but a bit wider. Had the same built in seating area and cabinets. Loved that apartment - I miss it!

@levmarc, I'm stealing this idea too for my son's second birthday next month. His daycare doesn't allow sugary treats but this should work. I'm thinking of cute skewers and a cup of yogurt dip for each kid. There are only 6 kids at his daycare so we can just plop this on the table and let them have at it! I probably will slice the fruit into smaller pieces, especially the grapes.

My son is 20 months old and I noticed that he's been sleeping with his head on one of his stuffed animals so I figured he was trying to tell me something. This past weekend, I made him a little 9 x 12 pillow and pillowcase that match the crib set I also made. Of course when I peeked in last night, he was hugging the pillow and his head was on Grover!

Second, second, second the be on time part! Not early, not late, just on time. Unless of course you are delayed by traffic or weather, in which case call to make sure it's ok that you still come over. We had so many visitors (usually family) show up late and it was so frustrating for all the reasons listed above. It's a big freaking deal to get a small baby ready on time as well as yourself. My son's almost a year old and clearly this issue still resonates with me - can you tell?

Sooo inspirational! I have an unfinished attic that could look a lot like this. Of course it's only reachable by ladder right now, but maybe I'll win the lottery and remodel.

I have the same rocker for my nursery and I love it! I bought mine through Fawn & Forest on sale for 50% off. I just checked and they're still on sale for $450. http://www.fawnandforest.com/categories/116-rocking-chairs/products

I've got a snap and go/carseat combination for the first few months. Anyone have any feedback on the Quinny Zapp? I like the fact that it folds down so small - I have a VW Beetle and don't want to get a bigger car. It's good for 6 months - 40 lbs. Any feedback on durability, mobility, etc? Thanks.

Hear, hear mschatelaine! We got a lot of flak from family recently because we bought an expensive dresser to use as a changing table in our son's nursery. But the piece that we bought is extremely well made and made in the US. We wanted something that we could use for years or use in another room of the house, not something cheap that we'd have to replace in a few years. I'm all about having less things, but better quality.

I just bought two sets of these sheets from Target:
https://www.target.com/gp/detail.html?asin=B000WKPE7M&colid=A2ZAZPMX4PW1&coliid=I2PU7Q51EFL6KE&bckreg=baby
They are fluffy and have a flannel-y texture. I haven't washed them yet, but I bet they get softer with each wash.

I love small cozy spaces! My SF Victorian is about 1300 square feet and the rooms are small. Family members who live in big suburban houses wonder where we'll put all the baby stuff. We're very good about editing what we bring into the house and purging on a regular basis and I love to organize. We'll be fine with one baby. Of course if we ever decide to have another, that may get a bit tricky. But that's a big IF!
