I love love lovey love this! It's so cute and kitsch but still modern at the same time. The corner sink is fabulous and I usually think they look redic. The only thing that stands out for me is the microwave cabinet floating up there; why not put in cabinets underneath to make one tall pantry unit and ditch the cart - it looks too cluttery. Am I the only one that thinks the layout of this home is totally strange? The bathroom is practically the same size as the living space, and the way the closet and bedroom are separated by the bathroom is inconvenient (how do you get dressed in the morning if your partner is using the toilet and wants privacy?). For a space that small the laundry area is massive. What To Do With Small Dining Room? Good Questions |

I work with people with mental illness and many of them are hoarders. They don't see their belongings as garbage, and that's why they don't want to just get rid of it. I would probably be frustrated if someone wanted me to just dump all my stuff in the garbage too. There are many layers to the individuals who keep so many treasures, mostly they are traumatized and the stuff makes them feel comfortable. Helping them to release the items they don't need is a long process, and certainly can't be done in two days. Just going into someone's space and throwing everything away will likely just traumatize them further and will do nothing to change the pattern. The homes will just go back to how they looked before, just with new things. It's an interesting disorder to deal with. Hoarding: Buried Alive | Apartment Therapy New York |

This is an old post but it inspired me to try out the alto treads on my own staircase, and I just wanted to say that they are great. The price was $42/tread which included the adhesive. Total cost was reasonable (We looked at hand knotted stair runners that would have run us almost $2000, the treads were a third of that). Once they have been affixed they are not a tripping hazard, and as long as you are not running up and down your stairs (which isn't really safe anyways) there should not be a problem. And they look great!! And are so soft!! Thumbs up. Alto Stair Treads | Apartment Therapy New York |

I second the spray bottle technique. After a while you won't even need to spray, just the threat of the spray bottle will be enough to send her running! I sometimes leave the ominous spray bottle sitting where I don't want my cats to go (on the countertops, for example) and they won't dare to go near it. Good luck! I cat sat a pair of cats for 6 months, and near the end one of them ran off. I gave his description to the SPCA, and made Lost Kitty postings on Craigslist. 3 months later I thought he was gone forever but another CL user posted that they had found a cat and contacted me thinking it was the one I had lost, and it was! So 3 months later he came home. It was insane. I told my friend right away after he took off and she was very understanding, and (obviously) even more excited when he came back. Good luck! Help! Not everyone has room for a massive craft area! I have a small one that looks the same as the ones above and I can get plenty done in it. These images are great. Wall-Mounted Craft Stations | Apartment Therapy Chicago |

I would want to put MY bed up there with some sheer white curtains over the opening, then put a pull out sofa in the bedroom which could be a reading area on a day to day basis and a sleeping place for when guests stay over. I was considering a garbage disposal for a while as a way to avoid throwing food waste into the trash can (which made me feel very guilty) but after doing some research decided against it. The food is ground up and out of your sight faster, and no it doesn't go to a landfill, but it does put more stress on the systems filtering and cleaning the water which uses more energy/resources (= not green).
