Hey. I've seen these black and white Ikea pillows (in the cover photo) in a couple stories recently. Does anyone know what they're called? Also, anywhere you can buy discontinued Ikea items? I'd love to pick up a pair.

These Ikea pillows are everywhere today? Anybody remember what the pillows in the cover picture are called? I've been looking for a set.

Anybody remember what those black and white Ikea pillow covers were called? I think they've been discontinued, but I'm looking for them on the auction sites. Just can't remember the name.

Those dining room chairs look remarkably similar to the vintage Kent Coffey Perspecta ones that I picked up a while back.

I think that I might be kinda strange in this respect, but I've never really participated in the whole memorialization ritual. Death, while undeniably sad for those left behind, is just part of life. I understand how emotional it can be for some, but I'd rather focus on the living.

Most of my stuff actually comes out of city alleyways and thrift shops, though I've noticed that as MCM has become more popular things are getting much, much harder to find.

PARTS of St. Louis are miserable. There are quite a few areas (yes, even within the city limits) that are perfectly fine. The places that you'll run into problems are in the gentrifying "hipster" areas like Benton Park and Cherokee St. where you have high-income youth from the county moving into the area and commingling with the destitute inhabitants. They're seen as easy targets with a lot of profit potential. I live in southwest city and wouldn't mind walking the streets alone at night. It's just about as safe as anywhere in the county.

There are a few pockets of it here and there. St. Louis has a very tight-knit mid-mod community and most of the collectors know each other and meet up pretty regularly. Glad to know that there is another one out there who appreciates good design.

From the picture of the contents, it looks as if you get 5 shirts, a jacket, a sweater, a pair of shoes, 2 pairs of jeans, and a few sets of socks/underwear. You can judge for yourself if this, combined with the service provided, is worth $1500. I would assume that this appeals more to the "money is no object" crowd.

All I want to know is how to make whatever that is in the cover image and why it isn't in my belly right now.

$1500?! For a few shirts, a pair of shoes, a couple pants and underwear? My most expensive piece of clothing is a $35 pair of Levi's, so I'm obviously not in their target market.

I don't really get this whole surreptitious painting thing. If you don't own the building, you can't just unilaterally make the decision to "update". To do so is completely disrespectful and damaging someone else's property without their consent, no matter how tasteful the end results. If you want to change things up a bit and do it the right way, go discuss your plans with the landlord. In my experience, most of them are very reasonable and will allow you to make updates as long as the job is done well and won't turn off future tenants. If they say no, then either live with it or find a new place.

Living in fly-over country may have its downsides, but at least housing is affordable. I'm living in a great neighborhood right near the downtown of a medium-sized city in well-maintained 2000 sq foot detached home and the mortgage is under $500 a month. I'd probably lose my mind after a week of trying to cram my whole life into 375 sq feet. For those who don't spend any time at home other than to sleep, it might work out, but I was done with the dormitory lifestyle when I left college.
