The steamy environment is the trickiest part about decorating bathroom walls. I hang topographic maps in mine. I like the way they look, they remind me of my favorite hikes and they're waterproof.

I've been TV free since I moved to San Francisco three years ago. During that time, my set-up has evolved from a single laptop to an Apple cinema display that is hooked up to a kick-ass, inexpensive mac mini.

Now, the epitome of laziness is a wireless keyboard and mouse to control my TV and music from the couch.

iTunes lets you cherry pick from their huge selection (Mad Men!). Buying one season of the Tudors is far cheaper than subscribing to a year of Cinemax.

After all this, if you still like your cable, check out eyeTV. Its an HDTV tuner and cable for your Mac and can also act as a DVR and provides a Program Guide.

*For the record, ABC's player is the most annoying player ever because it makes you click continue after the commercial. If you don't have a wireless mouse, that means getting off your touche to click. Grrr. Damn them and their Grey's Anatomy brain candy.

My boy cats had a good quality dry food, a water fountain and a bi-daily scooped litter box. Nevertheless, they were both just diagnosed with Struvite crystals. The first was yelling in pain in the litter box which sent us to the vet at midnight. He was very close to being blocked which would have cost us $1600. Fortunately, we got away with spending $300 for a night at the vet and a couple of meds. Now they get the Hills cd prescription food and wet food mixed with water.

Interestingly enough, if crystals continue to be a problem, male cats are often given a surgery which is a veritable sex change that widens the urethra and makes boy kitties pee like girls.

Cherry Pie, picked from the sour cherries along Cherry Creek in Denver. If I was still in Denver, I would be picking cherries right now, getting ready to make a pie for my Dad for Father's Day. They were always perfectly ripe this weekend.

Has anyone figured out a source for that wonderful, red wallpaper?

Got to say - I had the exact same thought when I saw this movie - the paint on the walls, and the apartment in general are beautiful!

I've been using this technique for awhile now - works well for pieces that are matted with plex, too. The only problem I've encountered is that my cat likes to lift one of the posters off its hook.

Does anybody know of slips for houseboats in SF? I could really picture living here if only there were an empty slip in Mission Creek.
