I just went from a 900sf apartment to a 1400sf apartment and purged some furniture. It just felt good to get rid of something, especially things that were just weighing me down. Now I have more space, slightly less furniture and I can breathe!

Love it! And your mom's advice is spot on.

And I too was looking at sofas from Macy's (that one included) and wanted to know how it held up.

Ugh! I can't get over how sweet and bright it is. Absolutely lovely!

Oh thank god! I spilled wax on my carpet a week ago and haven't figured out how to get it out!

THANKS!

I would suggest buying big and colorful posters of concerts, bands, products, etc. Or even large panels of Marimekko prints? Which ever suits your style better.

And with big colorful panels or posters you don't really need to paint the walls, or at least not right away, that way you can get a feel of the space and what color it wants to be.

Just a side note: I personally would move the loveseat on the left to a different spot. To me it cuts off the fireplace and moving it allows the conversation area to be directed to the television or the fireplace and would warm up the room.

That is most definitely a fantastic farmhouse.

I would just be afraid about a spark that ignites the cardboard.

For $30 you can get the same thing at A R Store. It's $30 but it's smaller and plastic. I use it for my television, cable box, dvd player, internet, etc. It comes in white and black (I have the white one and I don't even notice it).

flamingo08: that's the first thing I thought of too.

It's quirky but I don't know. I would think it would be fun for kids and sexy/fun for adults.

It totally lacks their personal style (although I'm wondering if they even have one). They kept a lot the same, the Oval Office hasn't changed, and now the Christmas decor lacks luster. I went there during the Christmas season during the Clinton administration and it had so much character!!! So disappointed in the First Lady.

I LOVE real trees! I don't have to store them, spend time fluffing branches, and the smell is really nice. But this year I'm in a building that doesn't allow real trees so I was forced to buy a fake one. It's good but I still miss my real tree Christmas.

Oh this is so lovely! I'm Catholic and I'm envious every time Chanukah comes around because I think their decor is so much prettier than Christmas stuff. Much more whimsical and simple.

If you've seen the show you know that hoarding is a mental illness. And I feel bad for people who are stuck in that world, like being stuck in the world of other mental illnesses, it must be horrible for the person and the family and friends involved.

I think this show has exposed a certain thing that is not seen, by the majority of people, as a disease but rather just a messy person, a packrat, etc. But it is and it can be treated. Their show "Intervention" raised wonderful issues about addiction of all sorts not just drugs and alcohol.

But on a lighter note (and not to make fun of the people on the show) every time I watch this show it turns me into a cleaning frenzy.

My heart breaks for these people and I hope they can overcome it with hard work and determination. It can be managed and not let it take over your life.

For someone with cats that don't listen to me about not scratching the furniture I really want the sofa in the first picture! That's pretty much my dream come true, to just have a patchwork sofa so if a part gets scratched I can just replace it with a patch!

I think I might want to cut out holly leaves and roll newsprint into berries to make a garland.

LOVE this idea! Thanks!

I'm going to have to look up those stickers!

I just have a glittered berry and pine cone wreath and a snowflake doormat (both from Target)... but it does a great job of brightening up the hallway (I'm one of two units that has anything up out of 8 units on my floor)

I never said I hated Ikea. I said I have a love-hate relationship with Ikea. Meaning that I have moments that I love Ikea (the good prices and stylish furniture) and I have moments where I hate Ikea (when I'm assembling the furniture or traveled all that way to find out they don't have what I want even though I checked online)

I'm just tired of hearing about it all the time from Apartment Therapy. There's more things out there that they can talk about other than Ikea and I feel like they should branch out. I clicked on the post and submitted a comment in hopes that one of the bloggers would read it and cut back a little on the Ikea posts.

Oh and this was posted by the Chicago Apartment Therapy... do you enjoy getting screwed by the 10% sales tax there? Because I know I do.

(And I apologize for being bitter, this was just a breaking point)

a) I really want that bedroom in the first picture

b) Does Apartment Therapy get a kick back every time Ikea is mentioned? I mean seriously, I'm a little sick of hearing about Ikea every other post. We get it... it's stylish, it's cheap, it's a pain in the ass to assemble. We all have a love-hate relationship with Ikea, and this is part of the hate.

LOVE IT! I do something similar right now, I have stacked plastic Coca-Cola bins that I put my recycling in. Maybe I should have commercialized that idea before these people did.
