I learned to cook at around age 7-8. My parents weren't around after school so I was always in charge of making a snack for my brother and I, and occasionally dinner. I'm glad I learned early, it gave me a running start for when I went away to college. I want to say breakfast was the first thing I learned to cook cook.

In my experience, kids love pasta and rice in most forms. Pasta with a simple tomato sauce or pesto and parmesan is always a hit. Risotto is always delicious, I like Nigella Lawson's lemon risotto recipe.

i love making shashuska with cotija on top. also, it's also good in simple cold pasta salads.

Pho, if I have time for it. Gatorade, a banana and coffee if I don't.

My parents are Indian and Vietnamese so dessert was almost always some sort of fresh fruit kept very cold in the fridge (mango, papaya, asian pears, lychees, sometimes oranges). Sometimes there was rice pudding and for super special occasions, ice cream.

I like it all - from the shopping to putting leftovers away and doing the dishes. The chopping and stirring is my favorite part, I think it's very soothing.

I wouldn't use oven cleaner, try barkeepers friend first.
