I learned to cook at around age 7-8. My parents weren't around after school so I was always in charge of making a snack for my brother and I, and occasionally dinner. I'm glad I learned early, it gave me a running start for when I went away to college. I want to say breakfast was the first thing I learned to cook cook. In my experience, kids love pasta and rice in most forms. Pasta with a simple tomato sauce or pesto and parmesan is always a hit. Risotto is always delicious, I like Nigella Lawson's lemon risotto recipe. Ideas for a Kid-Friendly Italian Dinner? Good Questions |

My parents are Indian and Vietnamese so dessert was almost always some sort of fresh fruit kept very cold in the fridge (mango, papaya, asian pears, lychees, sometimes oranges). I do this too. I try to always have a fresh knob around too, but sometimes I just forget and the one in the freezer is a lifesaver. Tip: Store Grated Ginger in the Freezer |

For weeknight dinners, it's anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour - but I usually have a lot of things pre-prepped for those meals (i.e meats already cooked from the weekend, frozen soups/stocks, pre-cut washed veggies).
