Love the new bathroom! I spent time in Japan and fell in love with their nightly bathing ritual to fill the bathtub with hot water, shower first adjacent to the bathtub and then step into the bath once you're clean. Very relaxing.

I have to agree that I'm not a fan with the style of the kitchen, it seems generic looking for a Victorian house.

Would never have expected that piece to come out that nicely!

That's a college and beyond piece, IMO. Well done!

My living/dining/stairway/upper hallway walls are Benjamin Moore Buttermilk. The downstairs is warm and bright even though the room doesn't get a lot of light, and the sun filled upstairs is pale and lovely all day long.

I'd love to see a post on what colours to use for art and accessories. Like the photo I went with gold frames for my artwork, but we have a lot of wall space left to fill and I want to inject some cool tones just to balance it out.

This kitchen is already pretty nice, I'm sure once its reno'ed it will be gorgeous!

In the meantime a way to ramp up the sophistication is to layer many different shades of white. Keeping warmth and interest is totally doable only using white, just vary the tones slightly from the trim to the walls to the cabinets and it will be slick!

IKEA free standing islands have a modern feel, so one would fit well into that scheme. Finally I would replace the countertop with a butcher block, or perhaps cover the existing with stainless steel, the butcher block would add more warmth while the stainless steel would add a modern flare. It's the only element there that's pretty unworkable with a modern, sleek scheme.

Sorry I missed your comments that Audree was already an experienced Glamp-azon!

And yes, I meant I was completely WRONG about Airstreams. I want this and I would park it on my front lawn to own one.

Take that adorable puppy on the road, immediately! :)

I'm completely with the commenter who said that trailers couldn't be cute if they weren't AirStreams.

Seriously. Awesome.

The other option of course is if you're DIYer, refinish them with a coat of paint and slip covers made out of on-sale fabric, and you could make a tidy sum for yourself

Agree with Username26 that if the manufacturer is noted you can use that to price them.

The wear and tear on those puppies is pretty extensive so anyone buying them will have to invest both time and $$.

See if you can find similar chairs listed on Craiglist, another online store, or in a local used furniture store, subtract the cost of getting them into sellable condition, and there's your price.

That said, if you live in an area where MCM pieces aren't sold at a premium, you can also use 'what you'd pay in NYC' as leverage to increase the price.

Definitely a very well executed plan. The quality of the worksmanship definitely looks professional. And building the cabinets yourself = huge amount of work, bravo!

Have to agree that the style does seem a bit dated and overwhelmed by one colour. Just redoing the floor in a lighter colour would soften it a lot.

St. Lawrence Market is fab. It's the place to find things you can't find anywhere else.
Elk, kangaroo, or ostrich anyone?

For sure it's better if you can avoid the peak hours so you can ogle the goods before buying, but hey. Not everybody can.

It's hard to see the whole set up, but a simple white curtain hung on a suspension rod is a quick and dirty fix that can do wonders. My basement closets were all doorless when we moved in and IKEA curtains have been a perfect solution.

Definitely do it before, especially if you're just doing various shades of white. It's hard to go wrong with white.

We painted the walls and ceilings of our living/dining room before we moved in, and then decided to do the trim afterward. Trust me, having left over projects has just meant living in a space that didn't feel 'done' for a long time because it's such a big hassle to paint after you've loaded in your furniture. I wish we had done all of the trim before we moved in, because we're STILL not finished and I'm close to painters-burnout. I'm tired of my weekends being eaten up with yet another messy paint job! Gah.

Definitely, paint before moving in. Before, before, before.

DIY Pegboard Headboard Our Fifth House

We did the shower/tub/tile and hardware last year and because our 100 yr old house is essentially crooked we hired out that part to a contractor and stayed away from expensive finishes like glass shower doors. I ended up going with a $20 white polyester shower liner that looks cleaner and sleeker than a $50 white waffle shower curtain that I brought home and returned.

Where we also saved was on retaining the floor as it was in decent shape and a neutal colour, painting (not tiling) the walls, hitting Zellers for accessories, and buying and installing an IKEA vanity ourselves.

Best tip: Buy IKEA products when they are being discontinued every few years. Right now IKEA has introduced new vanity styles and I saved $250 by waiting and scored a double vanity for $100, and better yet it was in the finish I wanted anyways.
