I bought cardboard house at Michaels Arts and Crafts for about $25, it folds back down to slide under a bed or behind a couch for storage, it is white cardboard, with black outlining details like shingles, window frames, siding etc. It can be left black and white, or colored with markers and/or paint. Personally, I don't think this one is very attractive, Michaels might be a better option for someone looking for a playhouse that would blend with decor a bit more.

I just moved closer to an urban area (45 min from Philly) and am thinking of trying one of those city passes for tourists (www.citypass.com), with a 10 day time frame, I can try to hit all the big tourist spots that I always mean to get to, but don't make the time for. Cheaper than traveling to another city and I get to expand my cultural horizons.

I usually find collage ideas for displaying lots of snapshots to be very busy- and it always seems very dorm-like, but this is a really good idea. The wood strips give it order and make it seem polished, and I love that it is a do-it-yourself project that seems realtively inexpensive. Thanks for sharing the idea.

I especially like the orange shelves built for the shelving brackets- looks so much nicer with shelves that have some substance as opposed to 3/4" thick shelves. Care to share instructions on how you made those?
