I am lusting after your stairs. I want mine to look exactly like that. Maybe I have the stamina to do that... I'm feeling inspired.

The person who does moderncat has the catioshowcase.com site but she hasn't kept it up recently. It has some interesting ideas.

I agree that the sink is too big and the window trim has much less character. Based on the pictures shown here, I disagree with Georgina who thought the fixutres looked cheaper in the after - I think they look high end, even if I really don't find the sink fixture to be my cup of tea.

I think the big thing the after is missing is art. That is what is making stuff look so sterile. Even an orchid or two would help.

Hey! Can we get a NSFW here? Seriously. Some of you guys in crazy non-conservative land may be fine with this but a picture like this can get me shot off to HR quicker than the cat can lick its ear. Even if I'm looking at it at lunch or after hours.

Team Decor: Reading about your tile makes me want to throw up.

Best decision: Making my kitchen to suit me, not for re-sale.

Biggest Regret: Not being more informed about some things. I assumed using a custom cabinet maker would make everything top notch. Unfortunately, some of the cabinet hardware (hinges, tracks) were not as high of quality as I assumed they would be. Also, cabinets that go to the ceiling means, 3 more inches of cabinets, not 3 inches of wood to connect the cabinets to the molding.

I have to disagree about returning a mattress - Macy's has a 90 day return policy, they do have a re-stock fee, but it is better than nothing. Also, make sure you use proper support, as required by your warranty.

Also, my $1600 3 year old Sealy mattress has failed to hold up. Partially because I use proper support, I am getting a full warranty replacement (actually, at my request, I will be buying a new mattress using a credit for the original purchase price of the old one). If you don't follow their support guidelines, no matter how much the mattress has deteriorated, you won't get warranty coverage.
Macy's has done right by me in the mattress department.

I was told that installing this in my attic would require a special backing (to the exposed foam) that was VERY expensive - almost as expensive as the foam itself. It was required to meet code (for flammability - although my installer claimed the foam is not that flammable, he had gotten it to burn using a blow torch but it went out as soon as direct application of the flame was removed). The same backing was not required to apply it to the back of my walls - so that is the application I went with.

Oh please people, that showerhead isn't that bad - it is just mineral buildup. It isn't like it is a pulsing mass of black and green mold. The fuzziness is mineral buildup, not fungus. Sheesh.

I have heavy glass stemware I use on a daily basis. I have a stemware hanger - mounted in the cabinet. I LOVE it for my use. It keeps things so much more organized. However, in your situation, I agree with most of the posters here - no. It will get dusty, dirty and look cluttered. Keep your somewhere out of the way when you aren't using it.

I agree with sasharenee IF this is an entry door. This can be more tricky and new entry doors are quite expensive. If it is an inside door, eh, so what if it is wavy or quite high to let through the breezes.

Half the world is trying to hide "ugly" pipes while the other half is now using them for decorating.

I do not think, in most cases, that pipes used as whatever, are attractive. I could maybe go for it in a steampunk kind of way, but even then, I'd like the pipes to be brass or something. The pipes used in the house tour are painted black. Everything here is galvanized. Coming off of a farm, I'm not a big fan of galvanized - all I can think of when I see it is the smell that comes off on your hands.

I'm in the friendly not friends with neighbors camp - for the grown-ups. (always exceptions to every rule, though).

I'm with rustypatina, snow removal all the way. When I clicked through, based on the picture, I thought it would have the "best" suggestion of shoveling or otherwise removing snow for them. I did this for my neighbors when I lived in a condo. Nothing like coming out and finding your steps and sidewalk shoveled to make your day a little brighter.

Something else that makes that closet look good is the fact that the owner only has 8 pairs of shoes, 6 pairs of pants, and around 30 hangers. And it appears to be for 2 people - note man sized shoes (2 pair) and women type shoes (6 pair) ha ha ha ha! Stages closets crack me up!

Yours will look great, but unless you can space your hangers exactly 3 inches apart, it won't look quite so ... neat.

Echoing those who say "They look odd and in the way under the desk." I think it is a great idea and almost there. A little more re-arranging and it will look finished, not just hidden. I love how the green echos the green of the mini-chair on the vanity.
