Can you please tell me which neighborhood(s) are the most dog-friendly? Especially where apartment rentals are concerned? Thanks!

You can also try colored slipcovers for your furniture; chairs, sofa, ottomans, etc. I agree with MelissaKay, use accessories to tone down the cream.

LOVE THIS! I'm envious, too! I'm also a big fan of gargoyles & gothic architecture. I love that you can see a bit of the Pacific ocean from one of your windows!!

I think the motion sensors are a great idea. What about sensor lights for nighttime? The kind that turn on strong light whenever a specific area is approached. I'm sure the cats won't like that and may get the hint.

I love the layout of the space and furniture! But I have to ask, is that a real kitten in the hand sculpture? Love the pooch too. Where did you get the leopard chair?? LOVE IT!!

I agree, I really like these Renters Solutions category/posts. I'll be getting a puppy soon and since I'm an apartment renter (and always will be) this particular post has been very helpful! Thank you all for your comments and suggestions!

I know it's a little more expensive but I've always used a local moving company. I researched before choosing them years ago and they've been trustworthy. I understand people who need money advertising on craigslist; perhaps when you consider hiring them ask for references like you would any employee. After all, you ARE hiring them to do a job for you!

How Does One Function with a Dysfunctional Nightstand?

I have a small wooden bench positioned alongside my bed (very little space for a nightstand or table). On it I have a small round basket to hold my phone charger, eyeglass case, a couple bookmarks and lip balm. I also have my alarm clock and both my Nook and Kindle. It's unconventional but I live in a studio apartment and space is limited. I use a floor lamp for light, positioned behind the bench.

I have a one room studio apartment less than 100 square feet. My full size mattress is on a sturdy steel smart bed frame which holds up very well and provides plenty of storage beneath ( I have a loveseat, 2 small bookshelves, a bistro table and 2 chairs, coffee table, end table and an entertainment center which is deep enough I've put extra books, my DVD & CD storge cases and I still have plenty of room. I think you can have a bed AND a loveseat, maybe an armchair, too.

How large is your room? Can you use double duty furniture (i.e. a desk can also be a vanity table, etc.)? I would go small scale and double duty furniture. Also, utilize any hidden space for storage (i.e. under the bed, closet, etc.) I live in a very small one room apartment and I'm able to make it work for me by organizing, storing, decluttering and multi-purpose furniture (I have books, dvds and cds in a storage case all in my entertainment center). Also, prioritizin helps ( what's the most important; #1, #2 and so on). Good luck!
