I think it's probably pretty true for people working on a budget. I lived in my Condo for six years and it wasn't until the last year where things were starting to come together. I started fresh out of college (no money) using an upside-down Rubbermaid container as a TV stand to starting to have real furniture and decor. It wasn't completely finished though when I bought a home and moved out. Now I'm starting the process all over again. I've been at my new place for almost two years and I easily see 5 more years at least worth of work.

Love the overall look of the space. I too was drooling over the kitchen light.

The color palette works well together; maybe a bit too subdued for my taste. The kitchen is beyond nice (and I have the same stove!).

I love how everything is put together. It's too perfect though. It comes across as fake and impersonal. I'm not asking for toys to be strewn around or for mess. But I hate stuff like antlers with orbs as a center piece. Nothing about this house tells me anything about the person living there. Expect they have good taste. For me that's not enough. I want to believe you live and use your space.

Ugh. Just no to the penny floor. How cheap and tacky. The second one with the wood floor that has thick white stripes is too much.

I really like the houseboat itself. But at $272 a square foot I'm balking at the price tag. Obviously some of the finishes are nice, but I don't think that convinces me this home is worth $150,000. I wonder what the average price per sqft is in that area for a regular home?

Just say NO to soffits!

I would take the cabinets up to 9 feet and leave the tops open or go all the way up.

This isn't a small kitchen. It's a wet bar. Oh wait, is that a teeny tiny stove I see in the back corner? Okay maybe it is a kitchen. Why would you opt for open shelves instead of traditional uppers in such a small space on the back wall? You're losing a ton of potential storage.

Practicalities aside, this is adorable. Love the color combos and butcher block counters. Very nice!

Things I like:

Getting rid of the soffit - yay!! I hate soffits. And that let you get the taller uppers.

The new floor is so pretty. Much better then the white tiles. Though I do worry about wood floors getting wet in a kitchen.

Obviously the new appliances are way better.

But overall I don't think the individual elements work together. The whole effect is too sterile and cold. I look at the kitchen and I think I'd get the chills in that room, and not the good kind.

The gold knobs are truly awful. They don't go at all.

I don't think the backsplash tile works as a backsplash. I actually really love that tile. It's beautiful. The way it get's cut off halfway through the repeat is jarring. I think it would have been better to move it up and do a border on all side, or pick a backsplash that had a smaller pattern maybe?

What about those of use that sleep in the middle of the bed when left to their own devices? Which I do when sleeping alone. When sleeping with my boyfriend we switch it up mostly because I don't have a "side" and it never occurs to me to sleep on the same side of the bed each time and I normally get in bed first.

I'm with the trap them and take them to the Animal Shelter. I would warn the neighbor that if they don't move the cats indoors that that is what you're planning on doing. If she's concerned about her cats at all and takes your threat seriously she will move them inside.

I will never again purchase a condo. Worst mistake I ever made. Beside the constantly climbing monthly condo dues; the association has the hand in everything.

Take it seriously. I bought a condo and an elderly woman and her two adult mentally disabled sons moved in below me after I had closed.

The creepy guys do things like loiter around the doorways, come upstairs to leave "presents" at my door, make lewd comments, chain smoke outside enough that it seeps into my unit, yell and cuss at nothing outside, sing horribly off-key at the top of their lungs at 5am, bang on my door about "stomping" when I'm not even walking in my unit. The worse one is well known to the Police as a creeper.

After 6 years of living like that... after the countless incidents that just gave me the creeps, a few scary door poundings at 1am, a handful of times of having to call the Police later I'd had enough. I can't sell the place but I rented it out at a loss of $400 a month and moved. I don't enjoy losing $400 a month, but it's worth it to not have to deal with those two guys on a day to day basis.

Burmese cats are so nice. The best thing about this tour is the doggie though. So cute!

Who are these people who like brass? Brass is horrible. Everything that is brass always looks better spray-painted a different color. Bronze is another story, but brass always (to me) looks cheap and hideous.
