Forgot to add that in India, this was commonplace. My mom described growing up and spending many nights eating dinner at a neighbor's flat or having a neighbor's child eat at her family's flat.

It's a shame we don't know our current neighbors, but it seems that life with a young child and 2 careers makes it too busy to arrange a regular event like this.

What a great idea. It's a nice way to make a big city seem smaller.

Meera Simhan reading Kiran Desai's Inheritance of Loss was amazing! She read accents from all over India and the different social classes without a hitch. The best audiobooks add give the reader an experience beyond reading alone would provide, and Simhan definitely rises to the challenge.

Thanks for the Bossypants rec. This and Mindy Kaling's new books are on my list.

Really gorgeous and colorful rooms that inspire creativity! But can we be real? How many people actually keep their craft areas neat like that? Or am I the only slob who leaves my stuff all spread out, thinking, "It will be easier to get started tomorrow if I leave everything I need out today"?
