I love this! But I also love Tokidoki in all its forms! Barbie issues aside, I played with her for hours and hours and hours as a kid. Now she has pink hair and tattoos and my favorite little catcus friend dog :-)

Whenever I'm looking for a solid color I go to Lowes. They have what are basically carpet remnants (with the sides bound). You can get one for $70 or so if I'm remembering correctly. If you have a specific color need you might want to ask them (or another carpert store) if they have remnants, and how much they charge to bind them. Way cheaper than most area rugs, and they stand up to abuse just as well as wall-to-wall carpet.

We love the Bjorn! My daughter hated just about every other apparatus. I loved that it didn't offend my eyes every time I walked past it, and it was super easy to clean. I did not buy the toy bar, but rather an ugly plastic clip on toy bar meant for strollers. It did the trick, and she loved playing with it while bouncing.

Right now, at 12 months, she'll have none of it...but she really won't sit still anywhere. It is good up to 28lbs and has a few incline settings, so maybe we'll be able to use it as a toddler chair when she's a little older.

Though, we did get a super deal and only paid $75! Not sure we would have paid full price.

Ruthi144 we use a similar system...though we have a home server so everything gets backed up there (rather than on an external hard-drive).

As for CDRs, the degrade over time and will not be readable forever. Disks take up too much space. Though...it's a "pretty" solution.

Sassypiggy, what horrible things happened at your sleepovers? Sure, we played truth or dare, or watched scary movies...but nothing truly terrible ever happened at the ones I attended. Even the co-ed versions.

I have the Ikea KARLSTAD Swivel chair and ottoman. I used to keep it in our bedroom since we cosleep. I would nurse in it using either a Boppy or a regular pillow. It was super comfortable and suited our style. I eventually moved it to the living room because I was sick of being stuck upstairs.

Once we got better at nursing while laying down...I usually just nursed in bed. That or on the couch (sitting indian style with no pillow, sitting normally with the Boppy, or laying down).

Now the babe is distractable (10 months old) so she can only nurse effectively upstairs in bed (where it's dark and quiet). Oh, and the "rocker" is just taking up space in the unused nursery for now. Planning on moving it down to the playroom to make up a reading area.

Really....your needs will change from month to month. Just have confidence that you will get comfortable nursing in all different positions and situations :-)

As for tv, books, computer. Whatever helps YOU pass the time. Because, in the beginning, you basically live with a baby on your boob. Stay as comfortable and entertained as you can while you're BOTH learning :-)

I loved that movie ;-)
I think this would be perfect if it was done with white dry erase paint (the black outline could be regular paint as it wouldn't change) and then you just fill in the dates and the details with markers every month. That way there's no need to repaint the whole thing next month!

My daughter's nursery is a similar color orange. Here's a link to how we decorated it (we too wanted a gender neutral space....since we didn't find out what we were having till she was born).

it's the first time i've ever had any outside space to call my own. i really need to buy some small patio furniture so my bf and i can enjoy it.

i can't wait to see the types of privacy screens people come up with (so that our nosey neighbors) can't see us shy folks sunbathing.

also, does anyone have any ideas on making a deck "kitty safe"?

i guess the insides of all JC high-rises look the same. i thought it was going to be my old building until i saw the Grove Street entrance across the street.

if your windows are the same as mine were, they provide almost zero noise insulation and are next to impossible to open and close (invest in some silicone spray or WD40).

as for blocking out some light and peeping toms....
i tinted all but one of my windows with some cling film i bought a Lowes. the building supplied mini-blinds, but it was TOO bright in my studio. i did this, instead of curtains, because trying to install curtain rods without a molding around the top was proving impossible (without drilling into the concrete ceilings).
