I'm mostly a categorizer, I guess. But what I mostly use Pinterest for is a virtual recipe box. That's where I get the most categorizer-y. And I go back to my boards a lot and actually make the recipes! I'll go through the cooking magazines and pin recipes and get rid of the magazines. I do the same for DIY/craft projects. Pinterest is a great way for me to collect all my bookmarks visually.

(I am also a stickler for pinning "correctly." I always check links before I pin something and usually edit the titles!)

But a PS: It's really difficult to find an affordable one. We had the IKEA bed, which was ok, but had to be reinforced. We left it in our old apartment. In our new place, we ended up finding a solid wood model at a local store called The Mill Store http://www.millstores.com/

I love storage beds! It's the only kind we've had for the past 7 years!

A wonderful thing when you're low on storage space- it's always where my sheets are stored.

I've got a decent-sized, if narrow, closet finally and I'm obsessed with getting all my clothes out of the dresser and into the closet! Anyone have any sources on something similar to the first pic! I LOVE the drawers!

I've been shying away from doing a professional overhaul because of the cost. Perhaps it might be worth it, since most of my stuff is still in the dresser...

I've been using this app for a few months as well and it's helped me lose 12 pounds! I agree- you might think what you're snacking on isn't a lot, but those calories add up like WHOA.

Yeah, it gets tricky when you go out to eat or when you put food together yourself, but the more you measure food, the better you get at eyeballing how much is a tablespoon and a half cup.

The app is super easy to use and I love it. Hope this post helps more people find it and use it with success!

Funnily enough, it's a cookie jar for me, too! My grandma had a big yellow cupcake-shaped one on the counter and you could see it from the foyer when you entered the house, so it's the first thing I spotted every visit!

Agreed- Whole Living is kinda meh. But I LOVE Everyday Food!! I've been a subscriber since 2007!! This is upsetting.

I love this color combo, too! It's the combo I'm using in my bathroom. We painted the walls aqua and I'm currently on the hunt for fabric to match. I'd love something that was mostly red with the aqua thrown in, but I'm having a hard time finding it!

My husband and I just spent WEEKS searching for this exact thing!! We'd had the Mandal from IKEA for five years and when we moved into our new condo last month, we had to leave it at the old apartment- it was built in the room and not coming out. Now we want to upgrade to real wood and it's been really tough to find something that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. (After all, we did just buy a condo.) We finally lucked out at a local place called The Mill Store. If you're in the Boston area and looking for solidly built, solid wood furniture, check it out: http://www.millstores.com/

We found a queen bed frame with 6 drawers of storage for $469 and we're having them stain it for us and deliver. They've always got coupons on their website, too. We scored 30% off! (No, I do not work for them!) We already owned 4 other pieces from them that we're really happy with.

I love that frame from Room & Board, but most people I know can't afford to spend that much on a bed frame.

Oooh- that's a really nice take on leather! My mind can't get past the big, bulky things at my in-laws' when I think of leather couches. It's a shame there's no Kasala on the east coast. This is a timely post for me as well as my husband and I just bought our first place and we'll be looking for a new sofa. We've had a sectional from IKEA for the past five years that's been run into the ground- springs popping, cushions flattening, cats scratching.

Looks like I've got some new sofa style inspiration! Thanks!

I struggle with the trashcan! Because we have pets, we need something covered. The step-open cans we bought (very small simplehuman brand, stainless look) broke not very long into their lifespan and so we're hesitant to buy another for our new home!

The Design Sponge tutorial has been updated to say that the Plasti-dip is removable once you're ready to toss the toothbrush.

@ESRSBB you can find the toothbrushes here, as linked to in the DS tutorial:

(I'm sure many other places online as well)

We moved from Boston to San Diego and back again 4 years later. Both times we took the northern route. Mostly to avoid driving through TX (sorry, guys!) but also so we could stop in Chicago and see friends!

Boston- Here it's nearly impossible to work without one especially if you're on the dreaded Sep 1 lease cycle. It's usually one month's rent. When my husband and I relocated back to Boston from San Diego a few years ago, we managed to find a great place on Craigslist- after four apartments in as many years in my previous stint in Boston, this was no less than a miracle!!!

A great option. Not sure it would work with my cats as the one loves diving in and out of curtains, bed sheets and the like. I can see this toppling over in no time! This might be a good option for a tamer, older cat.

We are about to move into our first home and struggling with where to put ours. It's been squeezed into the bathroom for the past five years. The bits of litter get EVERYWHERE. Not to mention little litter dust paw prints.

FWIW, we purchased a sectional from IKEA almost five years ago and it's on its last legs. It's literally falling apart! Granted, we are constant movie-watchers, so we're on it a lot! But it might be worth it to wait and invest. Or do as suggested above and scour Craigslist!

Thank you for this nice reminder. My husband and I are in the process of buying our first home and naturally, I'm daydreaming about furniture and things. I'm trying to convince myself that there's no point in rushing to fill the place!! But it's hard. Especially when your friends are crying "When's the housewarming party??"
