I'm going to go ahead and guess there are so many detail shots because these photos are not from the final reveal. Patience, folks!

Adorable! Love it so much.

Could someone share the sorcery behind keeping white walls and floors clean though? Because I don't actually like to clean daily (or sometimes even weekly) and I just don't see something like this holding up well given my lifestyle...

But, oh!, how I wish I could live that lifestyle!

My brother and I tried being roomies when our parents divorced and I was forced to move out of our childhood house. (I was commuting to college and he had just vacated the premises.) Maybe it was the circumstances, but it was just as awful as when we were kids. I love him dearly, but we were not meant to live together. Never again.

Option 1, with the couch under the window. This might not be ideal if you plan to have a television in the room. Try rotating everything to find the ultimate configuration for how you plan to live in and use the space. Just remember that everything doesn't have to be anchored to a wall!

Love it! This gives me so much hope in case we find ourselves in a newer/blander home in the future. I love the character of our 1940's tudor, but it's small and the age worries my husband in case of possible kiddos...

I LOVE kid art in a family space. Awesome way to make the kids feel special! The wall sconces made this far less successful than it could be because they really required the frames to be arranged symmetrically. A casual layout would make this more relaxed and allow it to evolve. The more I look at it, though, the more I second lynell sentiments and want to go at it with a level and ruler.

Super cute! I hope those soft, squishy little boy legs don't get scratches or splinters.

@jess13 - You do realize it IS still a table, you know, to eat at, work at, and sit around, right?

I agree that it would be fun to have the ghosts of dinner linger, but the overall shape of the table is off-putting to me, and comfortable chairs seem much more practical than that bench. Fun concept, though!

Is it just me, or does the woman in the first photo just need to open the windows BEHIND her lamp? Problem solved, and for free!

I do *kind of* like the triangle lamp, though it seems awkwardly placed. Who wants a lamp right in their face while working on a Sudoku puzzle?

Why on earth would you fold your underwear but not your workout clothes??? Yoga pants take 2 seconds to fold and anything cotton will wrinkle noticeably. Your underwear, on the other hand, will be seen by very few people (hopefully). :)

I think this is a really great concept to keep in mind when purchasing a home. So many people/families think they need far more space than they will ever use. How much more use will you really get out of that formal living room, family room, den, and reading nook vs. a well-loved family room?

5 Tips to Make Your House Appear Cleaner Than It Is

I bought my house with beige square tiles and a purple painted accent strip on all 4 walls of the bathroom, including the shower stall area. I didn't love it but it wasn't awful to live with. Then the purple paint started peeling, and I found myself picking at it compulsively. The underlying tiles weren't my style, but I would have much rather worked around them than have to deal with the peeling paint. We ended up gutting the whole bathroom within the year because I just couldn't take it anymore.

So, if you decide to paint, I would look at it as a short term solution only. If this isn't the bathroom you'll be using on a daily basis for showers and such, the paint may serve its purpose better.

Start with the toilet, vanity, and floor. Buy a shower curtain you love that will ease the pain you feel with the tile. Make other cosmetic changes before painting the tile to see if you can make it livable for yourself. When you reach your breaking point, rip it out.

For what it's worth, I hate that pink tile too. :)

That quilt is just the best thing I have ever seen. It looks amazing with the wall color. This is such a fun, fuss-free room.

We lived in military housing for years (absolutely no painting!), but even when my parents bought a house, they never painted. Everything was the leftover white or bathroom wallpaper of the previous homeowners. Since my parents split, my mom's house is still primarily white, though she is transitioning to beige. Furniture-wise, the staples have historically been forest green, brown, burgundy, gold, etc.

I prefer much more colorful spaces. Nothing too wild, but I tend toward cool colors.

It looks like you have a wreath hanger on the door... Have you tried hanging a wreath approximately the diameter of the window so it lines up at the top of the arch? It might look weird, but you won't know until you try. And hey, at least I didn't suggest window film... ;)

Yeah, I don't know that attractive really qualifies as "good design" for a toothbrush... Does it effectively remove plaque or just look cool in a cup by my sink?
