I've often used cafe clips (thanks, Mom) for curtains teamed with tension curtain rods. I picked up some great dish towels at ikea and voila...had great curtains with zero sewing.

Great room!! I second lisetiffner's question about the grey chair.

As for the rug, I think the oriental rug is a great suggestion. It will give you a ton of options with color and the detailed patterns hide stains/spots well.

I saw this exhibit last weekend and loved it. The photos are mostly large scale, so you can see amazing detail in each of the windows. It was completely voyeuristic. Excellent (and FREE) way to spend an hour.

Remember that you can't take a drink bottle with any liquid, but EMPTY bottles are allowed. Rather than wasting another plastic bottle, bring your own EMPTY refillable. In the spirit of full disclosure with the TSA I usually put the bottle in a bin, too.

I whole-heartedly second the smiling tip. It helps to create a slightly friendlier atmosphere and may even help you to calm down.

The first thing I thought of was to use the low-shelf as a ledge artwork in the gallery style (see the multitude of recent posts). Take the art from floor to ceiling.

Can't wait to see how the project progresses!

This looks really great! Your room set-up is similar to my living room...I'm curious as to where you put your tv in the "after" shot?

I'm set to move on May 8th and feel your pain...

The best part has definitely been making the hard, oh so hard, decision to get rid of so many sentimental items. Tracking the small cool spaces has definitely been an inspiration!

I appreciate the comments about the personal touches and lived-in quality, but overall it appeared to me to be pretty scattered and odd.

Was there a large mirror over the tub? Was the monitor part of a makeshift office crammed on a dining room table? Was that the edge of a papasan chair in the bedroom?

I think I would like it more if 1/4 of the contents were removed to open up more space. Nice effort! I give you points for not including a cat!
