Idealizing the Unobtainable

I miss being able to create new folders, deleting or renaming other files when saving a file. My PCs are always organized. With MAC I feel it's a huge task to go in a file my files.

Unless I am missing something???

I gave up a southern or western exposure. In rainy Vancouver this is important, but cost and location ruled out a bright space.

I'm also an upholstery. The springs are easy to repair. It's the labour and leather that would be very expensive to re-upholster. I think $200 is too much if you want re-upholster it completely, but not if you like it as-is or just want to re-place the seat, like suggested above. It doesn't seem like you are in love with it as-is so I would keep looking if you don't want to invest the money to have it upholstered. I'm still a fan of buying quality used over buying knew though!

I agree with ZSUSCI, what's up with this photo AP? Did you buy it on Shutterstock?

I look for furniture that is comfortable, so for me as a tall person that means a sofa that I am comfortable sitting up in. I also want a sofa that I can lay vertically with some on, 2 people spooning to watch a movie. Maybe TMI, but that's what I look for in a sofa. Also, no ultra suede because I think it's hideous.

Reupholstery services care pricey, but you will never find a quality, custom replacement new for $1200. Quality furniture can last a lifetime and if it is a piece you love, the $1200 will be well worth it to have it reupholstered. Not to mention you are not adding anything to a landfill. Wishing you luck!

Worth a shot, but what did you do about the transition piece? I could easily do my kitchen floor, which currently has ugly stick on tiles that are lifting, but am concerned that it would have hazardous lip where it's cut off and connects to the hardwood in the living room. Any suggestions?

I love the natural wood, and I know how much work stripping varnish it! Nice work. Looks great, even if the detail is perfect.

I am also learning how to upholstery. There aren't any furniture upholstery classes in my city (Vancouver, Canada) so I ended up taking an auto upholstery class and am learning the rest on my own. I'm blogging about it in hopes that I don't feel totally alone during the process.

I love learning a traditional trade, not to mention all the hilarious things you find tucked away in old chairs (coins, candy wrapper). Every piece of furniture has a story in my view.

I think colours are a double standard - in that they can be trendy and classic. Colours can be "in trend", like chocolate brown was a few years ago (especially paired with blue in interiors and with pink in fashion). However, it can be classic, like used in the nursery above. Basically I think it's safe to decorate in the colour, or lack there of in a neutral's sense, that makes you happy. If trends make you happy, go for it, but use it in a way that's easy to change up.
