Here's a tip about the minefield of neutrals: go to the craft store and pick up a couple of those 99 cent bottles of acrylic paint in a color close to what you think you would like. Then apply the colors to paper plates (waxed coated or foam). Carry them around to the different rooms, lighting and at different times of the day. Use painters tape and stick them to the wall. It will help you see better the undertones that you may or may not want-pink, yellow, green, purple etc. After you get a better idea of what you DO want, then take your plate to the paint store and you will have a better handle on how to pick a color with no crazy undertone or too light/too dark surprises.

Crap, "their home"

In case anyone is interested, I painted my living room Rainstorm from the color stories fan deck. Morning, noon and night it reads Colonial Blue---ugh! I paint. I paint a lot. I know my paint colors and I am always ordering the latest fan deck. I paint my house and all of my friends houses. I have been painting for 20 years. I only use the best paint brushes and rollers. I've used Aura for most of my house. Very disappointed in Rainstorm! I have also used Upper West Side. Definitely a cool color. Classic and easy on the eyes. Since not many people have actually painted their walls with the new color stories, I thought I would pass it along.

I strive to be wise enough to take away what works for ME. And truly, I'm a pretty savvy DIYer, but I I ALWAYS learn something new. That's what I thought this was all about.
