My daughter LOVES Olivia, she would love this for her fourth birthday!

Personally, I buy my chickens full-grown, not as chicks, so there's no risk of unexpected roosters. :)

Personally, I have no problem with keeping hens around even after they outgrow their egg-laying days. They are still fun, friendly, still produce fertilizer, and still eat bugs, so they have lots of "uses" - the eggs are just bonus. After all, I keep my dogs around and they have no uses at all. :)

I have three backyard hens in a neighborhood in Los Angeles where it's legal to keep hens but not roosters. I love them! We initially got them to keep down the population of garden pests like grasshoppers and snails, but now we love the eggs and the company - and my young children adore them, too. I clean the coop once a week but it isn't too much of a chore. The only warning I would give is that they do defecate everywhere (they are birds, after all) which is great for the plants but we did wind up building a little fence to keep them off our patio furniture.

I spend a lot of time in the front yard of my house because it's a lot cooler in the summer than the backyard, and I too have seen how great it is for building community, I love it.

I have a space like this - it's a relatively large backyard but it's a perfect rectangle and I'm really struggling with how to add curves and break up the space so it doesn't feel like a big box.

In general I don't buy anything with licensed characters, but I do make an exception for Olivia. My daughter ADORES her and she's pretty cute and, I think, a good influence on my daughter's behavior. It also helps that there are relatively few Olivia products available for sale (books, videos, and just a handful of toys), so you don't feel too overwhelmed by it.

I've always lived in L.A. and always wanted fall! One thing that helps is going outside at night when it's cold(er). I don't know if that's as true in FL, but in Southern CA even if it's 90 during the day it can be 60 at night, that really helps feel fall-like! I can sit outside and even put on a sweater. :)

We have a one-year-old and a three-year-old and we planned on having them share a room but we couldn't ever get them to properly sleep together so even though the baby's crib is in their shared room he sleeps in a pack n' play in a different room. I'm still holding out hope it'll work better when he's a little older, maybe by 18 months or 2 years old.

I had a changing table with my first child and I liked it - it had built-in storage that was handy - but I got rid of it when I had to fit in a second crib for my second child and I haven't really missed it.

The key might be "twenty-something." Just guessing but I live in L.A. and I'm in my 30s and we just bought a small house with room for a nice vegetable garden (and chickens except my dogs would eat them) but that would definitely not have been financially possible in my 20s. (I'm married and we make more than 50k a year together, but again - that was NOT true in my twenties.) Maybe these are just older farmers? :)

I really love the color scheme and the armchairs in the living room.

Great space! I love the two pale green chairs in the first picture. I'm also really inspired by the grouping of the three paintings in the third picture - I never have the guts to buy/display original art because it's so hard for me to picture how it's going to look in a space, but this has inspired me to start keeping an eye open for some paintings to hang on my (still empty) walls.

I LOVE decorating for Halloween. I had fake tombstones and a fog machine long before I had kids, but now I can use them as an excuse. :) Usually I do some "scary" decor and some fall/autumnal, then take down the scary stuff November 1 and leave the rest up for Thanksgiving. And then Christmas stuff for December.

Our nursery doesn't have any windows so we went with all bright white walls to reflect lots of light. We even painted existing wood built-ins white and I love it - it's bright and airy and cheerful, not too neutral or boring.

I love the look of bathtubs, particularly free-standing ones, but the truth is, I never, ever use them. My husband and I are strictly shower people - even my toddler showers now. We are renovating our bathroom now and we've decided to remove the tub and replace it with a really nice, big stall shower instead.

I have duvet #9 (the orange and white one) and I love it. There are a lot of reds and oranges in our bedroom - it's true they aren't as calming as cooler colors, but I think they're sexier and more passionate. :)

We are in the process of looking for a new home right now and our dream luxury is a guest room (or even a nook or alcove or some separate space). It's not possible for everyone, of course, but I would love that! We have lots and lots of overnight guests, at least 1-2 every month and sometimes more like 5-6, and it would be so nice for them and for us to not have to have them sleep on our living room sofa and to have a place for them to store their bags, etc.
