I'm a designer who has recently moved back to Northern CA, currently residing in South Sonoma County. Your project sounds very interesting--I love the challenge of functionally and aesthetically fitting everything into a relatively small space!! I can be found thru the ASID referral service link at http://www.asid.org/designservices/find/. Use my old zip code of 92625. Also, per the advice above, check out the ASID service for other designers in the area. For may reasons, it's a good idea to talk to a few designers prior to selection. Although you can find a good designer thru various channels, using an ASID (or other afilliated professional) provides at least some level of education, experience and code of ethics.

From your brief description, it sounds like utilization of space will be key--a few tips off the top of my head include efficient organization; no matter what your style try to keep things paired down, unfussy; and keep furniture scale in mind--beware of overstufffed, heavy pieces.

I hope to hear from you. Either way, good luck on your project!!
