Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm sure there have been plenty of rentals featured on this site whose owners also happened to have closets full of designer clothing, but whose house tours haven't been met with such vitrol. I can't help but think there are geographical, class, and yes even racial prejudices at play here. And before you get your panties in a bunch no one is calling anyone a racist, but some of you might want to ask yourselves how you'd respond to a white woman in New York living in a rental with a closet full of expensive clothing. Just because she lives somewhere where she could afford to buy a house doesn't mean she's obligated to. Sai's Glam Girl Pad House Tour |

Kosher salt, people, kosher salt! After I cook I pour in a generous amount of kosher salt and scrub with the pads of my fingers. Then I just dump the salt out and wipe it out with a paper towel.Perfectly removes everything and I haven't had to re-season my pan since! The key is to scrape out as much of the food as you can while cooking, though I don't have to scrape much at all because my pan is so nonstick. How Do I Keep My Cast Iron Skillet Seasoned? I'm a little suprised that someone who has a multi-generational family recipe for grits would actually call them "cheesy grits" on the whole wide internet. I grew up in the South and I never, ever heard anyone call them anything but "cheese grits" until Mitt Romney's grits gaffe a while back. He got made fun of mercilessly for that one. I am, of course, assuming you're southern which could very well be a mistake. Classic Family Recipe: Creamy Cheesy Grits with Green Chiles The Cheesemonger |

I'm with @ecandle96. Comparing eating meat to the enslavement of human beings, some of whom were my ancestors, is appalling. It's stuff like that that makes many people of color thing vegetarianism/veganism is a "white person" thing. And I'm actually someone who's trying to transition my way into veganism, so I'd actually be on your side! The Ethics of Eating Meat Contest: The NYT Announces the Winning Essay |

I second quinoa salads! I make a lot of bean and quinoa salads because I work multiple jobs and weird hours and don't always have access to a microwave. If you do have access to a microwave, I suggest curries and stir fries and recipes like this one that are all great with rice or quinoa. I tend to put the saucier part of the meal at the bottom of the container and store the quinoa on top until I'm ready to eat, as this keeps it from getting soggy. I think another reason that Carolyn asked for recipes that don't contain meat substitutes is that sometimes when you're looking online for vegan recipes they can lean heavily on things like "vegan burgers" etc. where it's just a meatless and dairyless version of something familiar. Maybe Carolyn is looking to expand her palate? This is one of my current favorite vegan recipes, though I usually make it with quinoa instead of bulgur. And follow the red wine vinegar suggestion in the comments section, that really helps pull it all together. Help Me Find Good Vegan Recipes That Don't Rely on Meat Substitutes Good Questions |

It's interesting how there are some people that are actually more interested in buying products that are brown/grey/beige because they automatically assume them to be better for the environment. According to this, Seventh Generation actually dyes some of their items brown to buy into this: In the News: Bring on the Beige … Toilet Paper? |
