As a chicago resident I will also highly recommend talking to the locals. There are so so many unique neighborhoods to explore. I bartend at a hotel restaurant downtown and am more than happy to write down local favorites for anyone willing to get out of downtown. I love to send people up to my neighborhood to explore the great restaurants around Argyle, the bars and shops in Andersonville, and the Green Mill for some jazz at Al Capone's old stomping ground. metromix.com is another site to go on where you can see anything from street festivals, movies in the park, theatre, live music, etc etc. It lists day by day so a great planning tool. I had a feeling i would see Gethsemane on here. I have spent many hours and dollars here. I love this place for the expertise, the variety, the inspiration and the beauty of it! While it is quite lovely and beautiful, I wouldn't want that at home. It just is too...clean. Living in Chicago I would expect to see this at a trendy club or restaurant. As much as I do love plants and flowers, I feel at this time in the world if we have a means to do so even if on a small scale, growing edibles is the way to go. I can't wait to see my edibles sprout and also the flowers I plant for bees. As nice as this looks it does nothing to awe me or make me crave being in this setting. hahaha...agree with you all! I got a frenchie 2 years ago at the beginning of december, so you pulled me in with the puppy. Then, like nonie said....the flower shop looks amazing. I have an old steal one. It looks like a card catalog at least. I dreamed as a makeup artist with TONS of product to organize of finding something with lots of little drawers that was actually nice and interesting to look at. When I saw my piece I was in love!
