meh-I was looking for some layout change/functionality difference.

Nothing wrong with a cleaned up space, I just don't think it justifies a before and after.

You should see my condo before and after I do my saturday cleaning

I have a similar issue as another poster that my condo only allows for my furniture to be positioned one way. It was a rookie mistake, purchasing furniture prior to moving into the space but now we have a monster sized sectional that overwhelmed the great room unless it is positions in one particular way. My boyfriend has had enough of my "let's try it one more time like this" only to move it right back to how it was in the first place.

You have a good foundation to work from which is great!

-I would do a white subway tile backsplash (polished carrera if budget allows would be great)
-Personally I hate floor tiles in a kitchen. They are too hard to stand on for long periods of time and cold as well. If its possible to replace with hardwood I would start there.
-When you have some extra cash, I would build up the cabinets to the ceiling. The cabinets seem standard so it wouldnt be too hard to match it up and it would make the kitchen feel more substantial.

I love the floors. If you wanted to update them a bit I would consider a white wash for a blonde finish. Personally, I think the basketweave pattern is beautiful but if you don't love them, then there is no point in keeping them to keep us all happy. Another great option if it's possible would be a VERY dark brown stain. There were some beautiful examples on H&H one edition (can't remember which month) which did a bit of a homage to basketweave patterned flooring. Great open space by the way :)

To me it doesn't seem like a secure or practical way to create more storage. I appreciate the effort but it doesn't work for me
