I simply could not get into Jim Dale reading the Harry Potter series. I am one of THE biggest HP fans in the world, but Jim Dale was not my favorite.

Davina Porter reading Outlander is simply a delight. I listen to that series during my commute every morning and evening and I'm transported to that time and place. She's truly incredible. The Outlander series itself is wonderful, as well.

Edward Hermann's reading of Atlas Shrugged is good, as well. Also, Ray Dotrice is fantastic as the reader of the Game of Thrones series. And I agree that by now, the only characters we care about are Aria, Tyrion, Jon Snow, and Danerys!

Houston, TX

Low $550 for a 1/1 efficiency in a great, fun part of town (Heights)

High $1,495,3/2 with garage in newly built home/complex. This will usually include granite/hardwood, etc.

I pay $1,000 for a downstairs unit in a standalone home duplex. 2 bedroom, 1 bath, 12 ft ceilings, hardwood floors, semi-decent part of town (2 blocks from Washington Ave and Memorial).

Not terrible.

@Glinda Goodwitch -- stacking books horizontally is actually MUCH better for them than standing them on end. Standing them up puts a lot of pressure on the sping and covers, warping them and tearing them away from the actual pages over time. Nothing wrong with stacking books. It's what I do on 75% of my bookshelves.

Ok.... The house tour didn't really seem cohesive and while I admire the international art, I didn't really feel like this house is where someone actually "lives." I don't know. Just didn't really do it for me. :(

Fellow Houstonian here. 42 feels like about 32! I've been shivering all week! Of course now it's back up to 74 and I'm sick and have chapped lips.

Lovely cabin, though! :)

Go with hardwood. Great resale value, easy to clean, easy on the eyes. I find carpet absolutely disgusting because you can never get it 100% clean and you never know what can get trapped in the pad underneath. *Shudder.*

This is really neat! I am now searching local arts schools to see if there are any courses in my area. And that chair turned out looking really fantastic.

I suppose it's impressive that it took 16 hours. All she really had to do was buy (on her seemingly unlimited budget) a sofa, a few chairs and some accessories. It's nice, but... I don't know.... with bones like that, I think it would be hard to go wrong! Beautiful exposed brick and concrete floors are tough to screw up.

I really like the small table and chairs in the kitchen. I, too, have a kitchen that is somewhat cut off from the rest of the house and have been trying to figure out a way to work in a sitting area. This is a great idea. And the little furry dog is just too cute. Looks very much like my own little fuzzy mutt. :)

My goodness. This is wonderful. I've been looking for a way to stylishly incorporate my husband's and my record player, old vinyls, and Johnny Cash posters without making it look too frat-boy-ish. I was worried we were going to end up with the huge, wrinkled Johnny Cash poster push-pinned in to the wall. This is such an inspiration! Thank you!

Ikea also has unbelievably inexpensive dinnerware. Like, an 18-piece set for $25.00. Many different color selections and styles, and very durable. Surprised this wasn't mentioned, as these are the cheapest, most stylish (for the price) dishes I've found....

I, too, am a bookworm and my husband has requested that I begin to cull. I simply can't, though, so I've decided to make my books a focal point in our home. We have a very long hall entry way, so I've bought dozens of "L" wall brackets and mounted them willy-nilly all along the wall so that there are clumps of 5-7 books here and there ALL OVER the walls from top to bottom. When I come home, it's like walking through a fantasy land through books and it always puts me in a good mood.
