what i hate: my clothes smelling like the previous users' laundry detergent/fabric softener. WHY DOES THIS HAPPEN? makes me think nothing is getting clean.

I had a twin growing up and my daughter will too--but only b/c of space issues. Growing up I had two friends with double beds which we shared on many sleepovers. Consequently, no one ever wanted to sleep over my house....

I used a traditional baby tub and lived in a small apartment. I wouldn't have done it any other way. I never would have felt like I cleaned the sink enough. when my baby got bigger we moved into a bigger apartment with a huge tub--jets and everything. I purchased a larger-than-the-newborn-tub but much smaller than our 'real' tub and it was perfect.

Because you used a dark grout for the walls I think you need to go straight and stick with the same color grout--otherwise it's too busy. (now if you used a white grout on the walls, I may have said staggered...)

OMG--love these bags. On my last trip to Ikea in Dec. I discovered a smaller version--still large but not awkwardly boat shaped--more of a classic tote shape. Now I have two big and two medium and use them for everything: Hiking boots, toys, laundry, Christmas gifts, anything wet or muddy, just as transport between the car and the 2nd floor apt.

you can purchase an inexpensive mold test and have it sent to a lab to determine if it's THAT black mold. I purchased mine at home depot.

what a great post!

My first bedroom had pink walls and pink, green and white gingham frilly curtains! (1975). The only art on the walls was a needlepoint of a-b-c's and my name made by my grandmother. My second bedroom had a huge rainbow painted on one wall by my mother--pink, purple, white and green. I loved it.

be sure to label things "BEDBUGS" when throwing things out to avoid transferring the critters to an unsuspecting person who thinks your trash is his/her treasure.

and please, PLEASE stop putting books and toys out of your kids reach! almost every room tour has book shelves placed so high up on walls. why? I just don't see the point. I'm sure we all agree that we want to encourage kids to read and to create spaces where kids can choose their own toys (yes, kids will choose books even if they can't read yet) so why keep placing these items so out of reach?

I must be the only person to not like Sophie. Sure, my daughter took to it immediately but the plastic paint? coating? something started to PEEL! When I emailed the company I got some "such is life" email and into the garbage Sophie went.

my middle name is "returnsalot" as a busy person (mom, full time employee) I shop online a lot and often buy two sizes and return one. I noticed recently on I think it was Boden USA's return form that one of the reason's for return is "purchased two to try on" or something like that.

As a former retail employee working for a huge department store, we used to joke that people could return a dead horse--the store would take anything back--including items that were obviously worn, smelling of cigarette smoke and BO. (They have since created a policy). But I have no shame. no shame what-so-ever.

question re tipping: if you have hired a freelancer who sets their own rates, do you also have to tip? I would definitely tip during the holidays but are weekly/bimonthly tips also expected for someone who keeps all earnings? I would most definitely tip if I used a cleaning service--I assume you'd pay the company and then the cleaner would only get their wage.
