I have had full length curtains in my daughter's room from birth until now. She's 3 years old and is pretty rambunctious, but she's never hung on the curtains, or messed with them in any way. Really, she's never had much interest in them. I'd say, go with what you want, and if in 2-3 years it suddenly becomes a problem, deal with it then. You'll undoubtedly have to change the room around by then anyway.

My mom has an AGA in her kitchen in Baltimore, MD, and LOVES it. It's gas, not electric, and she didn't find it increased her bill. Everything she cooks in it is amazing (she uses it exclusively). Veggies and meat are perfect, and cakes heat up just fine. And, actually, I think it takes less time than my gas range to boil a pot of water. Perhaps it depends on what kind it is, how new it is, and what the temp's set at.

It gets very very hot and humid in Baltimore in the summer, so we have a/c anyway, and no one ever notices the kitchen being too hot because of the AGA. And it's so warm and cozy in the winter. Yes, they're really expensive, but for those who love the way it cooks and looks, it's a dream come true.

It's pricey, but looks great as a tablecloth, a surface to color on, or underneath my daughter's easel.

I have a dyson collecting dust in my closet because I use my carpet sweeper so much that I don't need it. It was only $19.99 at casabella.com and I've had it for years. It's easy, quiet, and folds flat for convenient storage.
