Oh, and I forgot to mention, that if you don't want to spend the time painting these chairs, then go with Rustoleum and spray paint them. Sounds ridiculous, but it works. They make a spray primer too. I've used this method for numerous pieces of furniture and they've always turned out great.

Chairs for Calligaris Planet DiningTable? Good Questions

I recently bought chairs similar to these after I purchased a fairly pricey kitchen table and didn't want to blow the rest of the bank on dining chairs. I bought four of them off of Craigslist for 5 bucks a piece. The only difference, is that they had vinyl upholstered seats when I got them. You can definitely paint over veneer if you want to give it a whirl. I did, and they turned out great. It's somewhat time consuming, but having control over the exact color/sheen that you end up with made it worth it, to me at least. I did it the long hard way (sanding, sanding, sanding, after every coat) but I've had many a friend who cleaned them off well, primed them with one or two coats (Kilz is also a great brand of primer to use), and then painted them with great results. If you can't find what you're looking for, this may be something you want to try! Good luck!

I'm also late to the game here.... but I just wanted to throw out my experience with trying to find the right color in case anyone is still looking. I have a one bedroom apt with dark hardwood that gets south facing light. I have the hallway/dining painted stonington gray (BM), which looks fantastic next to bright white trim (I used mascarpone, BM). It's very light and relaxing, even when its dark and gloomy outside. A very cool looking gray, but no visible blue. Tried painting the other walls palladian blue (looked very green), wythe blue (VERY loud for my small apt), and woodlawn blue (looked like a bright robins egg blue).... and I'm now at a loss. I just want a light gray blue, who knew it would be so tought to find?! Anyone have any luck?
